Re: Rugby on Channel 9 / Stan
NRL must be fuming,
i recan Channel 9 advertsied Rugby Union Series against France more than they did State of Origin
for promotion leading into games,
I could not believe the bombarding of Union Adverts during NRL Games.
(this highlights channel 9's neglect for the game)
please oh please lose the NRL Rights!!

Re: Rugby on Channel 9 / Stan
So it seems they're now putting out 3 sets of numbers. Average. Peak. Tuned in. The actual broadcast standard is the average number. That is what SOO and the GF's are judged on. I'm sure RA loves to put out the 3.287M number but the average was about half that - 1.6M.

Re: Rugby on Channel 9 / Stan TV Ratings
Would be interesting to see the Stan Sport streaming numbers for the Rugby. Thinking they may not be so good, hence Stan Sport not releasing them?
Rugby Championship: Aus v Sth Africa
Wallabies take on Springboks this Sunday on the Gold Coast.
Published by David Knox
on September 10, 2021
The Wallabies continue their Rugby Championship campaign this Sunday at Gold Coast’s Cbus Stadium against the Springboks, Live on 9Gem and 9Now.
There will also be extended coverage on Stan Sport.
Coverage will be hosted by Roz Kelly and Nick McCardle, and featuring Sonny Bill Williams and Andrew Mehrtens. Tim Horan, Drew Mitchell, Morgan Turinui and Justin Harrison will analyse, joined by Allana Ferguson.
COVID-19 has played havoc with the Rugby Championship schedule, with all games being relocated to Queensland. Never before has Australia hosted four top-tier nations in what will be a festival of rugby over the next four weekends of double-headers between the Wallabies, All Blacks, Springboks and Pumas.
After losing the Bledisloe Cup series, the Wallabies are preparing for another brutal contest against the world champion Springboks, who have the most effective forward pack in international rugby.
After Sunday’s clash, there will be little recovery time for the Wallabies, who face the Springboks again on September 18 at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, before playing Argentina over two successive weekends: September 25 in Townsville and October 2 on the Gold Coast.

Re: Rugby on Channel 9 / Stan TV Ratings
i do not think it is playing out as good as they are playing on
Last rights were between fox and ch10 for Internationals
and they are eclipsing what channel 9 are rating.
(super rugby was different as it was Exclusive to FOX> hence the increase for Channel 9

Re: Rugby on Channel 9 / Stan TV Ratings
Which begs the question…. Where is Union in regard to the sporting landscape in Australia?
I have a mate who is right into it so I get an insight out of my own bubble of afl and lesser extent nrl and that group of mates are all into Union … he’s a New Zealander though. To me it seems to be all about internationals where the interest lies. I think this is where they need to focus … a bit like cricket maybe. In saying that, interest in cricket has seem to have waned a fair bit and even tennis was in SBS last night I saw. So Rugby Union .. not sure where it sits.

Re: Rugby on Channel 9 / Stan TV Ratings
Sunday night prime time for the Wallabies vs Springboks tonight and no AFL or NRL to compete with. It will be interesting to see the ratings tomorrow.
Channel 9 were clearly not confident enough to put the Wallabies on their primary channel, instead opting for 9Gem.

Re: Rugby on Channel 9 / Stan TV Ratings
Watching South Africa play Rugby is about as exciting as watching paint dry!!! Plus the Wallabies are trash. Hence they're on the secondary channel. Having said that they should get reasonable numbers but nothing like they used to.Beaussie wrote: ↑Sun Sep 12, 2021 12:20 pmSunday night prime time for the Wallabies vs Springboks tonight and no AFL or NRL to compete with.
