Of course it is

. Well at least since the nrl went into partnership with touch. Wonder what would have happened if union put up a better offer?
Yet you didn't address the point put forward ... it comes under union in other countries .
& what has that go do with AUST
The discussion was about how things are here .

Yes, touch is either rl or union depending on what country you're in lol.
Touch was used as a training method for both RU and RL worldwide. The first organised competition that took place was run by the South Sydney Rugby League club in the '60's. Hence the rules being more closely aligned to RL.
It is a very useful and important part of RL participation and awareness.
no! youll find most people play touch for fitness or social reasons & have next to zero interest in league or union!
backed up by the fact the participation numbers for proper league and union are so low

Participation numbers (I have always stated that they are not a true indication)RL & AFL are about the same .
Yet you say RL is low
What is wrong with your brain .
RL now throws the participation number line around probably seeing as the AFL have for years & wasn't questioned about the bullshiit numbers
IIRC last years annual report had participation numbers at 1.4 mill
Now if you follow your usual insane rant script
You will scream bullshit
Yet take the AFL numbers as gospel .

The question is ... is touch rl. The nrl try to claim it in their participation numbers, and a good effort by then, but no one (fir aflcrap that means "a lot") really buys this. Just buying into a partnership with touch doesn't make touch rl. Just as union claiming it doesn't make it union. That two sports try to use it suggests it belongs to neither and is a "sport" in its own right. Just because it was born from rl to train etc doesn't make it rl just as rl was born from union doesn't make rl union. Raquet ball is not squash, royal tennis is not tennis, softball is not baseball. However to counter argue ... 20/20 and limited overs is still cricket. I just think that it stinks of hypocracy that touch suddenly became rl (in Australia) once an agreement was entered was into. Nice try rl but no one is buying it let alone governments nor the struggling junior competitions whose numbers are dwindling ...

Touch is not rl. The nrl (which is an organisation) bought into a partnership with touch... so nrl oversee it does not make it rl. What happens should touch or the nrl decide to displace this partnership ? You can not define a sport as something based on an agreement. Union claim touch as union... which is equally absurd. So if I play a game of touch in Australia am I playing rl yet playing the same game in Europe I'm playing union? Ridiculous.

Deal with it .

So what is touch in other countries? How can it be two things ? Simple question ? Simple answer is touch is touch ... a sport of its own accord.

exactly! we have been through this several times! posting participation numbers from several different sources! ABS, roy morgan, erass etc, all showed the NRLOL participation numbers to be crap! fudged over inflated numbers
note i never mention the AFL participation numbers either just numbers from 3rd party collection of stats

Interesting peice on the development of various football codes from soccer to union from union to league, from leaugue ti touch and other forms of non contact sport ... and even American football and Australian rules.

Touch Football
is a safer way of playing the Game of Rugby League.
Non Tackling in the game creates a fast game
using the same skills wich is played in R.L
Rules are different with Touch / oz tag.
