SOO is a great series but it seriously messes with your NRL season. I think it therefore balances out as far as benefits and disadvantages

This is absolutely correct. They have local teams, but they are not at AFL level.

Also I would point out that as much as it would be fantastic for Canberra to host State of Origin, Bruce Stadium doesn't have the capacity. Even Manuka can't hold enough.
