How dumb are you, do you have any idea how stupid you make yourself sound?
Beau starts one of his threads that he thinks will show how popular AFL is only to be showed up that these O/S and local celebrities are just publicity whores and will go anywhere and get their picture taken.
Yes they go to the AFL and next day go the the NRL (or visa versa depending on their schedule).
Beau's eagerness to show the popularity of AFL fell on it's face like a lot of his attempts to extol the virtues of AFL.

I would agree, these celebs are just doing what their publicist wants them to do.

He had a few shots at the giant sticks.
Missed completely ,0 points.
Tried again(Blaming Roy Masters for AFL Bullshit numbers, when it was the Lawson report),& Blaming RL fans for vandalism ,when thee was no proof.
0 points again..
Was then interchanged off(one of the 100s that happen a game),& hasn't been seen since.

It didn't fall on it's face. On the contrary what have we seen from the NRL side? One club, and only bosom buddies of it's co-owner Russell Crowe!! Not a peep from anyone else! Are they afraid to show the world? No - the reality is those leaders that Beaussie was talking about DIDN'T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT THE NRL!!!MarkZZZ wrote:NRLCrap1 wrote:

Like I said, planet Earth is this way. Or show us the other clubs echoing the AFL efforts. Come on. Show us seeing as you think this thread's falling apart for the AFL!

Hugh Jackman:
The Hollwood star is a long-time support of the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles, who are based in Sydney. As his recent appearance in Les Miserables showed, he's not a bad singer and in 1999 he even sang the Australian national anthem at that year's NRL Grand Final.
Bret "the Hitman" Hart:
The Canadian wrestler might is probably of the more unlikely celebrity league fans. He owes his love of the sport to when he was wrestling in England in the 1980s and was taken to a Wigan game by a fellow wrestler called Dynamite Kid. He's been hooked ever since and has even been known to blog about the sport.
Vin Diesel:
The Hollywood hardman has described rugby league as "a remarkable game" but is more a fan of the Australian form than Super League. His favourite memory? "I remember watching the State of Origin of 2003, one of the New South Wales players went to the sideline with a cut forehead and the trainer stitched the wound with a staple gun. Those guys are real action heroes."
Rio Ferdinand:
The Manchester United defender is good friends with Sam Tomkins and even joined in with the Wigan celebrations in their dressing room after the Warriors thumped Leeds at Headingley last season. A regular tweeter, he occasionally vents his feelings on rugby league.
Wayne Rooney:
Ferdinand's Manchester United team-mate Wayne Rooney loves the sport too but his allegiance lies with Leeds Rhinos and, in particular, Kevin Sinfield, who last season he described on Twitter as "just brilliant".
David Soul:
The former star of Starsky and Hutch is a big sports fan and is a known supporter of Arsenal. But he's also got a penchant for rugby league - thanks to what he sees as a partial likeness to American football - and has been spotted in the stands at the London Broncos in the past
Mark Webber:
Red Bull's Formula 1 racer is a lover of all sports including rugby league. He used to be a ball boy for local team Canberra Raiders and joined in pre-season training with the Bradford Bulls a couple of years ago.
The England all-rounder was born and brought up in Castleford and, as a result, is a massive Tigers fan. He once said, "I think rugby league is one of the purest sports you can watch. It is fast, vibrant and real end-to-end action. I really enjoy the physical confrontation of the games."

From http://www.warriors.co.nz
Rugby league doesn't find a place in any of U2's lyrics but the world's biggest band gave the Vodafone Warriors a centre stage appearance at the club's home ground on Friday night.
In front of 46,000 fans at Mt Smart Stadium, Bono came onto the stage for the Irish band's opening Auckland concert showing off something a little different.
He turned his back to the crowd to show what it was - sewn onto the back of his jacket was a Warriors flag.
Its appearance had come about after a hunt by the concert promoter for something identified as being uniquely New Zealand with a Maori feel to it.

Re: World Leaders and Celebrities Embrace the "Australian Ga
I think why politicians and such get presented with Aussie rules stuff as it is the uniquely Australian game, some australiana so to speak. Like giving them a dryzabone or a surf life saving cap ... Things uniquely Australian. I don't think there's anything else but that. Union, league, soccer etcetera can't be seen as uniquely Australian. That's not a criticism of those codes just an observation.

Those outside the AFL bubble see it as some desperate bid to gain some international credibility(That's why threads like this are started).
Good for a laugh, the old LOOK AT US LOOK AT US culture of fumblers.

Re: World Leaders and Celebrities Embrace the "Australian Ga
I think it's a bit of that too... But when politicians give presents and want something to represent something uniquely Australian then something of an Aussie rules nature would fit that as it is the only sport apart from polo cross that is uniquely Australia ... Wouldn't you agree?
