Whoever wrote that needs to do a double take. To begin with, Melbourne cheated but they didn't tank. I could take the rest to bits but that would be a case of TL;DR.

Re: RUGBY LEAGUE SHOWS WHY IT JUST CAN'T GOVERN IT'S CODE
I'm sure we could find some disgruntle RL fans if we went looking - the fact is all these decisions are made with the support of the AFL Commissioners and the clubs. I don't think you will find an organisation anywhere that could not do things better, but that doesn't take away from the point that the NRL shows a clear bias to Sydney sides to the detriment of their own game! Prepared to strip points and premierships from the Storm for sallary cap breaches but when it comes to Sydney/NSW clubs they arn't so brave! Clearly they are scared to make tough decisions that will be unpopular - unless that is your club is not from NSW!eelofwest wrote:Pies can you name another code in the entire world that has a cost of living attachment to their cap system? I’ve created a new thread as this is directed at the league and game as a whole as distinct from one particular incident.
As a long-time passionate football supporter I've never had less confidence in the game and where it's heading. A regular stream of outrageous decisions and explanations from league headquarters has made me question how much I can continue take from this obviously corrupt organisation.
In the last 12 months alone we've had to deal with:
- The premiership team, aided by over a million dollars more in the salary cap, being the only team able to afford the most valuable player in the trade period
- That same club getting a critical extra (undeserved) days break before the Grand Final over the minor premier, going against all accepted rules
- A team breaks the strict salary cap rules (even going so far as to write it into a contract) and is allowed to dictate their own punishment
- A team found "not guilty" of tanking is fined half a million dollars for tanking and key figures are suspended
- That same team being considered for a special one-off priority pick despite the priority pick being scrapped, at the expense of other rebuilding teams
- The same club, again, having to seek league approval for the removal and replacement of key figures in both administrative and football operations
- A team under investigation for performance enhancing drug use still eligible, over halfway through the following season, to compete for the premiership
- The ludicrous inconsistencies with regard to rule interpretation, compounded by the half-baked explanations given for decisions
- Those same inconsistencies arising from week to week at the tribunal and MRP
- The farce that is the goal review system more often than not coming to the incorrect conclusion
- The continual manipulation of the draw to the detriment of fairness
- The extravagant concessions given to the expansion clubs, and the buying power (AFL funded) of those clubs to purchase the best players via free agency
- Ridiculous inconsistencies in the application of the clash jumper doctrine
The then VFL and the newly formed commission may well have saved the game as a major interest in this country in the mid 1980’s, but we’re now forced to accept anything from them as the clubs themselves have no real power whatsoever.
I’m not suggesting that the AFL has done nothing right. Membership, participation, television and attendance figures are testament to the fact that they clearly have. Yet an uneasy feeling about the whole show persists.
The next few years are critical in terms of decision making at the top, not just for the integrity of the game, but the gumption of the number one stakeholder – the supporters.
How much more can we take?

Maybe they know deep down that New South Wales is the only state where the game can really thrive into the future, Swan.

Re: RUGBY LEAGUE SHOWS WHY IT JUST CAN'T GOVERN IT'S CODE
Doesn't matter that they have a cost of living allowance - thats the rules that exist which the AFL commission and AFL clubs gave them - its entirely within the rules and not cheating. The same can't be said for the NSWRL (NRL). An interstate side loses premiership points and GF's, Sydney sides get hit with tissue paper - they are clearly showing there is no consistency in what they do and there is no leadership! Therefore no governance!eelofwest wrote:Pies can you name another code in the entire world that has a cost of living attachment to their cap system?
