When I refereed, the numbers of Aboriginal players were very similar to what they are now in the AFL. Do not assume via your bias. If you had really done your research, you would know that I am right. Your inability to view the issue from a truly neutral position is not being hidden very well.

The NRL is investigating a racism complaint made by Manly director Darrell Williams under the league's anti-vilification policy after a Sea Eagles board meeting.

Williams claims fellow board member Rick Penn made derogatory comments at him, calling him "boy". He made an official complaint to the NRL on Saturday night via email.

"As I had driven this conversation, Rick took particular aim at me and uttered the words, 'Listen here BOY!' or 'you have no idea what you're talking about BOY!'," Williams wrote in the email.

"I immediately interjected and pointed out to the Chairman Scott Penn, that I took offense to the word (boy) in the context that it was used by Rick and I would not tolerate it being said again.

"Unfortunately, Scoot [sic] Penn chose to defend Rick, his father, instead of cautioning Rick about his remark.

"I took further exception to Rick, in trying to justify his language, when he also uttered, 'what are you talking about, I deal with your kind/people all the time'."

NRL boss David Smith said in an official statement released today that “that any suggestion of racism has to be treated seriously."

Slimmy ........unlike you neanderthal chest beaters, I don't disagree for the sake of disagreeing and I don't hate RL, I dislike the average RL fan, just like you, you are narrow minded, delusional and devoid of reason. Raiderdave is the clear example, he thinks somehow AF being accepted detracts from RL, I think it just means one more sport I can enjoy. It's a NSW attitude akin to a flock of sheep - brain washed sheep at that! AFL has had it problems but to say RL is squeaky clean really is naive.

On the term "Boy", there is a rather famous example an accidental gaff by Bert Newton at the Logie Awards. His usual line of "I like the boy" was not the line to use when speaking to Muhammed Ali - but he did purely by accident and there was a panic in the front row! Luckily Ali knew it was an error and took it well.

I think we know in Australia that it's not acceptable, so it's not limited to America.

The NRL is investigating claims that spectators racially abused the wife of Canterbury forward Frank Pritchard during last Friday’s controversial match between Manly and the Bulldogs at Brookvale Oval.
The fresh allegations add to the ugly aftermath to the grudge match on the northern beaches, with Bulldogs players Ben Barba and Dene Halatau spat on in the face and neck respectively as they walked from the field following the visitors’ dramatic two-point win in golden-point extra time.
NRL football operations director Nathan McGuirk on Monday confirmed the body’s integrity unit was aware of claims that Pritchard’s wife, Raima, was called a ‘‘monkey’’ and instructions to ‘‘go back where you came from’’ while sitting with other players’ partners in the western grandstand.
Pritchard’s wife tweeted during the game: ‘‘Crazy fan just told us to fff off to our own country and get off the Centrelink. #onlyinmanly’’.

A caller to a Sydney radio station on Monday alerted the NRL to the latest claims from Brookvale Oval, where Manly forward George Rose was also hit in the back with a can while Bulldogs officials and staff manning a Canterbury merchandising van were abused.
‘‘We were sitting next to where the players’ partners and family members were sitting and a couple of Manly supporters were pretty much going off at one of the ladies there,’’ the caller, who referred to himself as Superfly, told Sky Sports Radio.
‘‘I didn’t know who she was and I pretty much told them to pull their heads in. They were pretty much racially vilifying her. The behaviour from these guys was absolutely disgraceful ... telling her to ‘go back where you came from’, one of them called her a ‘monkey’ as well.’’
McGuirk said the contents of the phone call had been passed on to Rugby League Central. ‘‘Our integrity department is aware of that one as well,’’ he said. ‘‘That is part of their investigation into that issue as well. Obviously speaking to the Bulldogs will be part of that process.’’
NRL officials met their counterparts at Manly on Monday about the events of last Friday night. They are confident that they can at least single out who spat at Barba and Halatau as they exited via the players’ race.
‘‘We are looking at identifying a few of the people involved but that won’t be done for quite a few days at this stage,’’ McGuirk said. ‘‘We’ve got good vision from Channel Nine and some good eyewitnesses as well.’’
Bulldogs five-eighth Josh Reynolds said the team was upset by what occurred. ‘‘I think it’s disgusting, I really do,’’ said Reynolds after entering the NSW State of Origin camp in Sydney. ‘‘I don’t know how a fan can overstep that mark, no matter how much they dislike a person.
‘‘It really hits a spot because I think there should be a bit of respect there. If I don’t like someone I’m not going to go and spit at them. It’s just a disgusting thing. The AFL doubles the nRL's crowds and only one team has had multiple racism allegations as of late. At least you're starting to recognise that racism is alive in the nRL.
