A sport for these 20k imbeciles to yell out "comon ref" in front of girlfriends who are none the wiser  Yep, I've seen it, these facts, too many times. They have more members and average crowds than any Sydney sporting club, and have for years. Deal with it.

"Relocation, definitely not," Davison said.
"I don't believe it is the way to go. And I am not picking on Cronulla. Sydney clubs have so much history and heritage. There is a second-tier competition. That's where Newtown play."

The NRL must have 16 clubs to fulfil its eight-game-a-week commitment to Channel 9 and Fox Sports. Southeast Queensland is almost certain to win a place if the NRL expands in three to four years.

But the chance remains that an existing club is relocated, as is commonplace in US sports, and as happened with the now hugely successful Sydney Swans in the AFL.

20k of those members and crowds are "the chardonnay set" Xman  It's true mate, I've hung with many of the hardcore 8k odd swans fans in sydney and they are the ones who coined the term. They also commonly refer to the 10-15k "bandwagon supporters" who seem to only rock up when the swans are goin good. I personally think this is a bit of an overlap in thinking. "The Chardonnay Set" covers the bandwagoners as well. Yep about max 8k members and fans attending the swannies who know the sport has 'umpires' not 'refs'

Hahaha I didnt coin the term xman. I got no qualms with the wealthy I'm just highlighting the makeup of the swans canvass. 8k care and understand the game. The rest are 'Sydney weekenders' sipping Chardonnay and cheering bad play whilst jeering at the "refs"

It's just the way things are Xman.

If that was really the case they would have dropped of to 8k when they missed the finals. Did they? :-k

Ah you really don't get it do you x. Youre talking about bandwagoners when I pointed out earlier that the chardy set are different. Stay attentive Xman! 20k+ are 'weekenders' just rocking up without care for or knowledge of the game. They want to go to work on monday and be able to say "yes we went to the swabs on the weekend. It was a lovely afternoon, we had chardonnay in thr sun and they won. They're the type who see league as 'a bit rough' and get disturbed by hearing fans who are loud and passionate about their sport. No they prefer going to the swans. Unfortunately sydneysiders can be a very superficial bunch. You got it now x? If not come out of that isolated corner if the nation you sit in and see for yourself.

8k is just another mystery nRL number that KE sprouted out of nowhere with no facts whatsoever to be seen. A bit like Raiderdave's 15k NSW which was found out to be bs. Another bs point for Raiderdave, please.

Fans are fans KE. They attend no matter what. They pay their money, enjoy the game and support their team

The NRL should try some

I didnt coin the phrases stewie, the hardcore few at the swans did. I'm talking about those long term week in week out folk, they've integrated 'the chardonnay set' into their language. It's that big a thing.

The facts are standing there at the game stewie. Everyone knows it, sydneysiders are not the most marngrook educated bunch. Sure they're there but unfortunately masses of em dont understand what they're watching. They're 'the chardonnay set', the sydney weekenders from surrey hills. And there's thousands and thousands of them lowering the standard of the crowd at the scg, week in week out. Just watch the crowd avg's drop when they head out to homebush for what is supposed to be the "big clashes and local derbies"

Oh Xman. Read below please.

There's no doubt that the crowds at Homebush have been going down for a few years but at the SCG we were averaging around 29,000 for all the games except Freo when it bucketed with rain.''

Read more: http://www.smh.com.au/AFL/AFL-news/swan ... z2ND4KKbLW

Three spectacular failures at ANZ Stadium this year will be complete today as disgruntled fans brush the club's finals-defining home game against St Kilda because of their dislike of the venue.
It continues a worrying theme for the Swans, with an almost 50 per cent drop in attendances at ANZ Stadium since the halcyon days of 2007 when crowds swelled to a phenomenal 63,392 average.

The AFL tried to reverse the trend this year by moving two of the Swans' Homebush games to Sunday afternoons, but it has backfired.

http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/ ... 6118818311

 as I said the 'Chardonnay set' are a superficial bunch. The novelty of ANZ stadium soon wore off and they've decided a 20min journey on the train into western sydney doesnt quite suit their upperclass values.
