SOO doesn't count. If Melbourne loved thugby, the Storm would have a crowd average equal to that of the capacity of Bubble Park and ratings in Melbourne much higher than they are.

But they don't.

And that is a fact that you can not get past.

I'd wager that thousands of melbournians dont go for the storm but support other teams. RL was a bigtime aussie sport well before the storm came to town TLPG.

And SOO does count my friend, it counts for 400,000+ melbournians, increasingly every year.

yeah and synchronized swimming is in the Olympics which rates its socks off. Does Australia love synchronized swimming? Nope, they love the contest the olympic games provide.

However, the cricket world cup also rates well, but so does international cricket. So Australia love cricket, not just the world cup.

SOO is an event in it's own right. It does not represent thugby to the masses. That job lies with the NRL, and in Melbourne that means the Storm (or indeed any other club).

The crowds and ratings speak for themselves. Thugby in Melbourne = Fail.

That's all I'm going to say.

Get out, KE.

And SOO rates its tits off. As does the NRL season, more than the AFL season in fact. So Australia loves its RL. In melbourne though ratings are lower than other areas but they are increasing, hence Melbournians are starting to fall in love with RL :D

And you're wrong. Thank god though thats the last we'll hear from you on this topic. Now get out!

Melbourne is starting to fall in love with league, just like sydney is starting to fall in love with marngrook. :)

Melbourne storm rated 10k in Melbourne last Friday. How are they increasing?

The AFL are well in front in the ratings. Just look at the figures on this site.

Support for the SOO has increased markedly in melbourne. The storm have consistent ratings and there's thousands in melbourne who go for other teams. And alongside all this we have our first born and bred melbournian playing in the top level for the storm. Starting to fall in love with league is so apt.

Hey? Should I say welcome back Mr Wiki? SOO is RL. RL is SOO. There's really no better way of describing it. Yes its an event but first and foremost its a RL event. :D Nothing you and your kniving ways can change that fact TLPG. I'll give you a point for trying though. Perhaps you could look it up and change it on wikipedia to being 'an event' rather than 'a RL event'

consistent ratings below 25k is not growing. Its stagnating at the base level.

One RL player from Melbourne compared to 100 AFL players from NSW/QLD. hmmmmmmm

Hey now dont be so terse. LEts take out the canberrans and those from south of the riverina. In fact lets count numbers born and bred in sydney, as was done with the melbourne boy plaing RL. How many born and bred in sydney Xman? I'm sure there's more than 1 but it wouldnt be too many more. Compare that to the amount of time the swannies have beenm planted in sydney and i think we have some fair indications that melbournians are starting to fall in love with RL like sydney is starting to fall in love with marngrook.

It's happening Xman, just roll with it me boy.

so now youre making assumptions based on no data, just a feeling that there arent many AFL players from Sydney, and therefore that compares well to the Storms single Melbourne player.

What a loser! #-o

Sydney metro football clubs at senior level = 22
Melbourne metro thugby clubs at senior level = 10

Sydney metro football clubs at junior level (may include senior clubs) = 47
Melbourne metro thugby clubs at junior level (may include senior clubs) = 10

Thank goodness you cant keep to your word and you stayed in this thread TLPG. Indeed yes your stats "Says PLENTY!" I'd say melbourne are going along fine considering the comparative time they've been in the comp and the comparatively low resources they've received from the NRL. Yes its happening, melbourne is starting to fall in love with RL. :D
