Let’s wait till say round 12 and if these numbers don’t improve Foxtel is going to be shattered Just like Channel 10 were when they gave back the rights to Some AFL games last year.

Rugby League supporters and perhaps supporters of all codes bar AFL are in for a special treat in the not too distant future. It relates to the dollars the NRL will get for their next five years of TV rights. The amount itself will be important but the really funny stuff will come as the AFL crew go to dizzying heights to justify their "domination". When ever confronted by TV ratings that put the NRL in front the argument becomes the regionals are dodgy so they are out. Never mind that twice as many people live in regional NSW/QLD as the AFL states or that the AFL has no regional teams when it comes to regional TV zones while the NRL has 4 not to mention NZ. NRL is not "allowed" to count NZ,regionals or rep games because the AFL does not have them.

When really pushed the ultimate claim " is look at the dollars we get". "These TV geniuses know the value of our sport" "An AFL game goes 50% longer than a NRL game" So as we approach the end of the exclusive dealing period for Nine,Fox and Telstra we have that "evil genius" of the NRL,Roy Masters, claiming the NRL will get $1.2b. Surely this is impossible given the 50% longer AFL game. NRL should only get $800m. But wait a minute that would mean that a minute of NRL will be worth the same as an AFL minute. Crazy talk so the NRL can only get $700m or less. Why if the NRL gets $1.2b or even $1b that means that NRL minutes are worth more than AFL minutes! Given the regionals are worthless in ratings those Sydney/Brisbane markets are worth a fortune. A lot more than AFL -noooooooooooo it cannot be. Anyway Channel 10 is broke so they wont bid. No there strategy is to keep paying big money for low ratings shows not bid for a surefire ratings winner. Not to mention why would you want to make it harder for your competitor to keep their best rating product. That would not be nice.

Those TV geniuses cannot really give the NRL a $1b+? Sure Sports bet has the $1b+ as the 6-4 favorite. Sure all the TV channels are talking how they wont be beat for the rights. Fox has gone into hyper drive since their own polling showed if they lost league they lost subscribers big time.

The decline and fall of the NRL is imminent they will just need to spend alot of money quickly on the way out. However, as I have already stated the real challenge will be for the AFL crew to reshape all their arguments as to why the NRL cannot even get close to the AFL deal. Thing is I know their up to it. It will be hilarious.

Oh pussycat I admire your Anzac spirit. You take a good lickin and you keep on tickin unfortunately you come across as delusional.I personally buy a 500 dollar membership each year and donated 500 this year to the club.Im guessing I spend each year what youve spent in your life time on my club and I am the norm in AFL circles. You might get big dollars for your ratings but youll never have the money of the AFL.Lets face it in comparison the NRL is a cottage industry.By the way the highest rating football game on foxtel this week was AFL,worrying signs.

Well here it is guys and girls! Firm proof the AFL's fox footy channel is SMASHING IT on foxtel!

Fox Footy picked up a 3.1% share of viewing in subscription TV households. This compares very well to Fox 8 (2.5%) and the heavily NRL dominated Fox Sports 2 (2.4%).

The figures are even better when you consider:

- some AFL matches were shown on Fox Sports 1

- these figures exclude Tasmania (as noted in the report) and rEportedly regional WA and SA which are not part of the national subscription TV panel - all up a 1.25m football heartland population.

How about trying a bit of the truth!

Note that three of the AFLs foxtel games were on Fox1. Why? Because they overlapped another foxtel game, splitting the market. So the AFL total of 1581 should be divided by only 6 since there were only 6 game sessions shown in isolation. Therefore the average per isolated game sessions is 263.5k.

A great result when the games are averaged over 3 hours! =D>

Well said. I've also heard that limited foxtel packages that are often taken up by pubs and clubs etc don't have fox footy be default. What a success this channel is!

The delayed game didn't make the top 20 so they're not easily available. Got a link for the ratings?

I know that if i were part of the networks inner sanctum i would be going with NRL especially next year when we have 8 games live on Fox. So 1087.00 + 271.800 * 4 extra games live = 2446.000 =D> =D>
