What a got ya moment beatup!!! You've really nailed that evil NRL mob pal. You must be so proud of yaself. Great get!!!.

Hang on a minute. $20M a year????? Out of $5.3B over 7 years. Geeeeezzzzz.........that's like a p1ss in the ocean pal lololololol!!! Its a nothing burger even if happened. But of course there will be a 20th team in NZ anyway so it ain't gonna ever happen.

Good try beatup. But geez your gonna have to get better beatups than that whole muck of mess pal. Lame effort. Zero outta 10. Do better.

Cockrain is right. NRL is dominating right now.... only in the key sydney demographic, though. All the LBGTQ bars in Sydney only exclusively show NRL these days. In fact, I think the IP addresses of leagueunlimited forum posters and a few NRL posters from here have also been pinged from those bars as well. Would explain a lot. :>:: :>::
that is actually where the Swans are with PRIDE Round and all

a bloke who was on the board for 9 years and 7 years as Chairman of the AFL run Sun's
Yes and he ran the Suns so well didnt he. The man is a big mouth with no influence in the AFL. League has its crackpots, the AFL has them too.
things that he stated are quote true though

Biggest NRL deal 5.3bill knocking it out of the park against the AFL
the Women's game is being run and promoted better
AFL Folk kept saying no chance Tv deal would beat AFL deal
AFL are so VFL centric
Tv Ratings are monumental
NRL are taking on risks etc

it is not like he made stupid or dumb comments.

(but yes the NRL sure do have dropkicks too  )

tsk tsk tsk terry [-X don't be homophobic. I think it's a great thing for the NRL to be the leader in the LGBTQ community. Unless you have a problem with that statistic? I suggest you join your fellow fanbase, and embrace the community that represents you so well.
Jumped the shark here pal. All the best for the future.
You too mate. Hope you're able to overcome your current struggles. I'll cheer you on
wow what a loser...

What else is a secret clause?

it is Interesting, though it has not been confirmed.

makes a little no sense really,

$20mill Per season from 2029 worth $120mill

after signing 5.3billion

they are stating that a 10th game per round and 20th team is worth $20million ??? per year
that would barley fund the NEW TEAM...

make it make sense.

It's just a beatup. Common sense says if a new team comes in and there is a another game they will get more money. It's been factored into the deal because the aim is to have NZ2 come in by '29.

In any case $20M is loose change when your revenue is over $1B per year. Its just the media making something outta nothing. And of course our dear leader beatup latched on the .....umm..........beatup lolololol!!!!!!!!!

someone quote me on this

but did the AFL when announcing the DEAL

announce it as (MEDIA RIGHTS DEAL) combining everything into Deal (tv / streaming radio digital Telstra etc)

where as the NRL announced it as Tv Rights deal which is strictly just TV/Streaming

why does the NRL do this, Isn't the Telstra Component worth 100-200mill ?
Not sure tbh. Wookie would be best person to answer those questions.

The AFL announced their deal as a media rights deal, all inclusive - although not including Radio which was announced separately. The NRL does not sell its digital rights, has not done so since 2018 - it manages its own website network - Telstra is not part of the NRLs media rights deal, All things Telstra related - including their contra deal - are cobbled on to their Premiership season naming rights deal. No mention of Nines print/radio deals which were specifically part of the last broadcast rights announcement for the NRL.

So the AFL inflate their broadcast deal by adding Telstra to the announced numbers sooks? This is where you do well pal. Right or wrong?

Yes and No. The AFL do actually sell digital media rights to Telstra - they have done since 2002, only now they dont have live AFL match broadcasts for an app - this includes the ownership and management of the entire AFL and club website network, including full replay, archives and highlight coverage. Telstra reap all the advertising revenue from the web network. In addition there is a contra component that involves work at Marvel Stadium.

The difference is that the NRL dont sell digital rights, so they cant include it in a media rights deal. All NRL rights are held by broadcasters/streamers. And the contra component of the NRL Telstra deal is just an addon to Telstras premiership naming rights.

Its easy to see where some people can believe that the AFL deal is inflated by including Telstra, but including it in a media rights deal - as they have for nearly 25 years, is not incorrect. Its just different.

Thanks for that sooks. Very detailed. So it would be correct to say that whatever way folk want to describe the Telstra deal the money for it was included in the broadcast deal when announced???

And whilst Telstra don't show live games, thus don't account for any TV ratings, they do show replays? Making them a quasi media player?
