Cockrain is right. NRL is dominating right now.... only in the key sydney demographic, though. All the LBGTQ bars in Sydney only exclusively show NRL these days. In fact, I think the IP addresses of leagueunlimited forum posters and a few NRL posters from here have also been pinged from those bars as well. Would explain a lot.

they are stating that a 10th game per round and 20th team is worth $20million ??? per year

It's just a beatup. Common sense says if a new team comes in and there is a another game they will get more money. It's been factored into the deal because the aim is to have NZ2 come in by '29.

In any case $20M is loose change when your revenue is over $1B per year. Its just the media making something outta nothing. And of course our dear leader beatup latched on the .....umm..........beatup lolololol!!!!!!!!!

No mention of Nines print/radio deals which were specifically part of the last broadcast rights announcement for the NRL.

Telstra reap all the advertising revenue from the web network. In addition there is a contra component that involves work at Marvel Stadium.

The difference is that the NRL dont sell digital rights, so they cant include it in a media rights deal. All NRL rights are held by broadcasters/streamers. And the contra component of the NRL Telstra deal is just an addon to Telstras premiership naming rights.

Its easy to see where some people can believe that the AFL deal is inflated by including Telstra, but including it in a media rights deal - as they have for nearly 25 years, is not incorrect. Its just different.
