It’s an interesting question - do you think if the nrl in Sydney could draw large enough crowds consistently that they’d have ground rationalisation like the AFL or is the need for traditional home games/grounds paramount? You’d have to think that if a team knew they could easily get an extra 20000 to a game they would ?


My other gripe - Melbourne and Gold Coast was never going to be a big crowd pulled - was it only at the “G” as a Melbourne “home” - if so I think that is silly - not like Melbourne train or do anything else on the ground but play there. Should have been moved. Maybe it’s about contacts with mcg and all that.

They are tucked away in suburbia in the traditional areas where these clubs originated from. & they are spread out far & wide across Sydney , across bridges & waterways or on the fringes of the greater metropolitan area. The situation gives these clubs a proper home ground advantage that derpball clubs in Melbourne do not have , one of the reasons clubs are reluctant to be moved into central venues , but the downside is it limits the ability of these clubs to grow any further then they have in recent times.
And grow they have
A game between Roosters & Titans 10 years ago at 6pm on a Friday in rainy weather would have struggled to get 7K , The warriors at Campbelltown with wests coming off 3 spoons in a row in pouring rain 10 years ago ?

If the NRL had better Stadiums NRL would draw bigger crowds (yes 100%)

Roosters and Parramatta Are two teams that prove good stadiums increase attendance in RL

Decent crowd for the suns game today - can’t stand In my usual spot on the wing as three deep. Game is pretty ordinary though - very scrappy and lots of mishandling.
