Average. By literal definition of the ratings. The ratings as you know it are an aggregate of the average ratings for each match, which is calculated every 15 minites of a broadcast. It doesnt encapsulate all or total viewership outside of those averages.

You have accurately describe the reach measurement. Well done.

However the ratings process isnt that simple. Its derived from Total viewers over a set period of time, and calculated every 15 minutes, and averaged over the length of the program. Reach calculates the total number of viewers who watch a program at any point for a minimum of 1 minute.

Like Broadcast, BVOD is still a sample. BVOD audiences are the average number of people viewing on connected devices that are playing the content in any one minute across the program’s duration.

This is in part why Foxtel has moved to Kantar as this system wasnt working to show data accurately enough.
