So AFL Canberra had to book the next best - Football Park in Woden AKA Phillip Oval. As it turned out they could have booked Manuka as the Giants first home game is the following weekend.
That can't be right!! What are the sources? I've been there many times and it's bigger than that!! I would estimate about 4,000 from memory.Quolls2019 wrote: Thu Aug 25, 2022 7:24 amFootball Park Woden, capacity is listed in a couple of places as only 1,000.TLPG wrote: Wed Aug 24, 2022 9:15 pm
There will be a lot more than that. The CRRL may draw more people but that's only because Seiffort Oval has a bigger capacity. I can't find a figure for Football Park's capacity but it will fit a few thousand and that will be the crowd figure in my view. Plenty of interest. Should be a good game - Belconnen have given Queanbeyan their only loss for the season and Queanbeyan only won by 18 points in the second semi final after looking invincible earlier in the season.
The ACT has always been a good Aussie Rules town. I lived there for two years and umpired two Under 18 grand finals - both at Football Park. Very good standard.
