Tell me fumblersif the Olympic committee decided that a successful sprinter deserved to sstart 10 mtrs in front of the rest of the field ..would you think it's fair .

maybe the AFL is the only sport to attempt to even up the disadvantages experienced by non-heartland clubs. They learned their lesson with the Brisbane bears. If the Storm werent so dominant the NRL would know what it's like for an expansion club to be grossly disadvantaged.

I'd much rather be an AFL fan and see the swans competitive despite their disadvantages than an NRL fan with the Storm making the GF almost every second year. 8 times in 20 years compared to the Swans 6 in the last 70 years

it shows theres far far more to success than a 10% increase in salary cap which only applies to below average players now anyway. Here's what happens in the AFL at the moment: a kid is recruited to an interstate club and takes 3-4 years to develop into a regular senior player. Just before he gets there he decides he wants to return to his home state. The rental assistance is an incentive for him to stay the course during his development. By the time he become a better than average player and a regular in the AFL his income is above average and he no longer qualifies for rental assistance. So there is little to no benefit to on field performance, it merely balances out the draw for interstate kids to return home before theyve given something back to the club.

Our comp has been more even than yours over the last 15 years because we havent had a single side dominate. A side which up until the last few years had very poor local support despite their huge success.

So AFL fans, can anyone tell me the afls reasoning behind calling this policy ... Rental assistance?

Especially when western Syd rent is so so so so soooo much cheaper than Perth or Richmond, or Collingwood or north Melbourne or stkilda or Melbourne or Hawthorne or prob friggin Geelong too and what's with the reasoning for rental assistance to all players under 300k ? Someone on anything above 80k should have no probs whatsoever paying the rent in Sydney's most sought after eastern suburbs.
