does nrl have a plan to combat the exodus

Post by sydneyfc »

Hayne, SBW and Burgess, all gone in one season

SBW and Burgess to Rugby Union - clearly shows Union continues to put the boot in the NRL, along with another long time NRL returnee in Karmichael Hunt, who also told them to get stuffed and joined Union from AFL

while Hayne left the Eels to join a training squad where he will be earning a couple hundred bucks here and there + case of beer....

Is the NRL in crisis right now? Do they have a plan to combat this? I can understand being in their shoes, earning pennies playing in the NRL infront of no fans...I would say stuff it and leave too if i'm honest :-k

what do you guys think?

Unfortunately the National Rapist League's biggest problem is the tedium and monotony of the sport itself. A good 70% of a thugby league game involves the dummy half making a single pass onto an attacking player is then promptly tackled, usually on the back 50. It's a slow, miserable grind which is why the game struggles to crack into any market outside of a few Australian states.

The new open era of sport will not be king to rugby league as it eventually starts to move sideways instead of forward. Why would you watch it when you can now flick the channel and watch far more skilful and sophisticated affairs- A league, NBA, NHL, NFL, EPL; the list goes on and on.

I think the nrl doesn't like its players code hopping just because they can. But at the same time the code produces the countries most supreme team sport athletes hence they can hop codes and make the cut and also excel. And it produces bunches of em each and every year.

The AFL? well they've got ablett, a bloke who's slow, weak, unpowerful and unagile compared to your avg rugby league back. But he does know marngrook real good so good for him but he has no choices or options available to him other than the AFL

The oi league... with womens cricket breathing down its back its a league in turmoil. The country has turned its back on the code and the players? Well where could they ever code hop? They'd be bashed and on the ground crying if they tried out for the womens soccer squads  The oi leagues 'superstars' are tired old slow wrinkly European men going through a midlife crisis trying to pickup Australian women and see the country's sights  its true! those leeches should be shunned.

so I guess its a problem of the superior athletes code that the nrl has with its exodus. The other codes will pay em heaps because, well, they know RL athletes are supreme and they know their fans would love to see em. They're not stoopid.

Any oi leaguers attract offers from other codes?

Lol.
Another sokka fan .

Keep looking over your shoulder the Woman's. Cricket is coming to get you.

Oi league ..LOL ...

& as for your other sports .
They have been televised here for yrs .
Have made no difference to established sports .

Plenty take keen interest, but that is usually because their first choice sport is finished for the season.
& including oi league in that list is fucking hilarious,
LOL x 100.

They had to move seasons to avoid getting smashed by the 2 big winter sports.
Then when they had the start of the summer season to themselves ,talk about premature ejaculation..lol.
Along comes cricket especially BBL & absolutely slaughters it.
This yr is worse..Woman's cricket is making the oi league a laughing stock.

What hooligan team do you follow.so we can point & laugh at you.
TLPG 🤣liar extraordinaire
You should thank me for publishing your IP

no soccer player, or even AFL player needs to switch codes as they make top dollar from their respective sports

if you want pennies for being a boofhead, by all means become an nrl player...

You hear it all the time by RL fans, that because it has tough and great athletes this validates their rubbish game as somehow being on par with other sports. Undeniably RL is tough and brutal, and lucky it is because it's this reliance on physicality which disguises the games acute lack of skill. RL=Great athletes without being skilful sportsmen. Soccer= the great athletes fail if they don't also have great skill. No hiding behind brute strength here gents otherwise you're going to get found out really quickly.

Look at the atrocious participation rates for Thugby League in this country. Here the physicality limits its accessibility; the kids/teenagers who play, the future stars of tomorrow, are an absolute minority in Australia's sporting landscape . Does this impact the quality of the game-not really because it's so bloody limited to begin with :D . If far more technical, sophisticated sports like Soccer or Basketball had such a small participation base to go off then the standards would be atrocious, you'd have a massive skills deficit.

Lol at the playing other codes nonsense, why would soccer players bother playing other sports when they already play the greatest game of them all?

Next Please.

Yours Sincerely,

Vlad Tepes

Yes, yes I agree they are isolated because they are great athletes. But I don't agree with the idea that they are on "a par with other sports"

The rexona challenge and the fact the other codes can't ptoduce players with the athleticism skill nor physical ability to be a pro in any other code showed us all they're above the other codes. By far

A deodorant commercial isn't a sport KE, lol. Sad position of NRL if they need to

1) Rely on a deodorant commercial to prove they are the best
2) The players ability to LEAVE the NRL and go an play another sport is the measure of how good that sport is LOL

Face it, their is limited opportunities for NRL players, hence why they leave the sport.

Football players have the ability to stay in the same sport but see how they go at various levels, with the pinnacle being for now La Liga and EPL, (personally I prefer to watch the Bundes than La Liga)
Football in NSW
- Football 200,868
- AFL NSW/ACT 28,468
- Rugby League 96,041
- Rugby Union 40,685
Football has 22% more players than the other football codes combined

This makes absolutely no sense nor does your statement that RL players have no opportunities when clearly they have multiple opportunities/codes to strive for. Sooker players have only one, you got that bit right ;)

The players with the least amount of opportunities in Australia are fumblers

There is no where to go
& nothing for them to do

They cannot represent their country
They cant even represent their state

NRL players are rapidly closing the gap pay wise
& early next decade id say... will be this countrys highest paid domestic footballers

I believe a number of AFL players have gone to the USA and played NFL? I believe at least 2 but I suspect maybe more.

So again it appears the NRL are the only ones that don't really have anywhere to go, oh besides McDonalds.

I heard a rumor that when an NRL player retires, part of the retirement package is a cheat card that reminds them to say "do you want fries with that"

Anyone know if that rumor is true?
