??? The bigger question ??? You think outrating NRL on a club round, - stage your competition over 2 weeks to get extra ratings, and extra matches. Only a desperate person would regard this as some sort of achievement. The NRL is a multifaceted organisation - its not the ugly kid at the school dance, the one sitting in the corner that nobody else wants anything to do with.

A lot of old nag lead the Melbourne cup atthe final turn, but only champions salute at the end of the final straight.

1) there werent extra matches, it was one round over two weeks. Same number of games were broadcast fta and fox as would have been through a normal round of footy.
2) The Answer to Freds questions
- AFL Fox 1085 this weekend, 2209 fox for the round (245 ave)
- NRL Fox 751 (ave = 187), monday night still to come
- AFL 1380 on FTA this weekend, 2617 for the round (327 ave)
- NRL 1716 on FTA (572 ave)
3) The NRL is only ahead by 600,000 ratings on total reported ratings. The AFL would be several million ahead if we had access to all ratings figures.
4) The AFL is currently maintaining a lead in averages for the season (488 to 435), but when Origin is included, the NRL jumps ahead (507 to 450). The NRL remains ahead on averages even if you take out the fox only preseason for the AFL. (507-492)

Tables will be up tomorrow when the nrl ratings for monday are in.
I didnt say they got extra matches, extra ratings - ie to show more matches in prime time slots. The Extra matches are every week 1 and a bit on FTA , and 4 PTVmatches.

Averages??? Averages of what? You can't compare apples with oranges. On FTA at club level we avg almost 80k Despite our time slots. When our other fixtures are used its no longer a contest. It might be closer on PTV, but I think we would be still marginally ahead there aswell.

The fact that AFL has an extra match is why you woukd want averages?

it doesnt matter how far the NRL is behind & what the figures say, the bumsniffers always argue that the little game of league is out in front
Australian sporting sponsorship
AFL excess of $50m
A league $30 million plus
ARU $27 million
NRLOL $25 million

Your an idiot. Of course I can compare averages, its more accurate than comparing totals. The AFL plays more matches over a year than the NRL. Interestingly enough, Ratings are also done by average audience not by total reach.

Using averages also screws over the AFL due to the policy of showing local games into local markets instead of three games across the entire country. We could use the totals, but then youd cry over that too....because the AFL have more matches.
.
Whether im an idiot or not, it doesn't alter the fact that that on FTA We rate 800k , which is more than AFL. And on PTV we more than likely rate higher aswell, so how can you say your avg is better?

It also screws us over to show games delayed but that is how it is! and showing several games into several home audiences is an advantage. When we do something, far less beneficial, who farken cries ???

Except you dont average 800k, you average 500k - and thats with Origin - its less than the AFL in terms of the actual home and away season. And yes your PTV average is higher overall, but then you also show far less in matches on both mediums.

Showing home audiences is not an advantage in Sydney and Brisbane, where those games arent screened elsewhere, and massively affects the overall FTA average by huge amounts as a result. And while two of your FTA games are delayed, the Friday delayed game is deliberately manipulated so that its most popular areas will receive the game live. Also worth noting that on any given week, some AFL FTA games are delayed as well.
Most weeks in the regular season we have 3 FTA matches, The live game(1m), the delayed game ((550k), the Sunday game (700k), At times we have just 2 games , the delayed Fri game is the one cut , so 1m & 700k , and on occassions we have 2 live games .. 800k+.

Showing games after 10 o'clock is not an advantage either .

Mannipulating ratings goes on on both sides of the fence.

FTA games go to pretty much everyone. About 30% of potential audiences have PTV. Meaning a FTA game is worth more ratings than 3 PTV games. How is that Simple Fred?
