Four more North American cities interested in starting Rugby League sides.
So Toronto Wolfpack are well and truly up and running. A New York team is expected to be established in 2019 and on it's way.
Now the sport has 4 more other cities in North America interested in starting Rugby League sides.
3 in the USA & 1 more in Canada.
Exciting times ahead and seems like good sense to try to grow in Canada and the USA.
When you think about it, Rugby League has so many aspects about it that North Americans could relate to with Gridiron similarties. While AFL has nothing really relatable about their code.
League & Gridiron both have -
Structured plays
Metre marked rectangular fields
Plays restarting after the tackle
Touch downs/ Try
Conversion kicks
Headon tackling
Linebreaks
Strict boundary lines
Penalties for not catching
Even the Cheerleader culture is similar in both codes.

They just play rubbish pick up games Wookie. Let me know when they have a team that is capable of playing in a comp, any comp, anywhere in Australia my friend.The_Wookie wrote: Sun Dec 24, 2017 3:09 amyeah I mean fuck, its not like the USAFL hasnt existed since 1997.
And in any case you don't care about international fumbling so why do you bring it up every time RL in other countries is mentioned. Strange days indeed Wookie, most peculiar your are lololololololololololol.

RL also has a comp in the USA .
But that's not what the subject was about( it's all the fumblers have) .
It's about joining a semi pro comp with teams from other countries( Google is your friend fumblers...other countries or the word INTERNATIONAL seems to confuse you lot)

be great to see a North American League combining a few countries..
prefer this than combining with Europe>> but short term will work>>
High school senior players who go on to play NCAA men's football: About one in 17, or 5.8 percent. -- NCAA senior players drafted by an NFL team: About one in 50, or 2.0 percent. -- High school senior players eventually drafted by an NFL team: About nine in 10,000, or 0.09 percent.
so many players that do not make it to NFL>>>
If there can be a decent salary cap along with a few academy's producing and scouting players.
the pros are endless>>

what did the VFL do in its first 20 years? and its not as though league is was a major code in North America. League a struggling code over there. But it exists and its growing.The_Wookie wrote: Sun Dec 24, 2017 3:09 amyeah I mean fuck, its not like the USAFL hasnt existed since 1997.
Rugby League, the dominant force in Australian sport!

So how is this going to affect the existing english clubs? Cause no doubt with the introduction of these additional teams they will look to get majority of their players from England like the wolfpack has.

I have a feeling they will get some players from the NRL like the wolfpack has been doing. And likely expand the UK Superleague.
Also a possibility of getting college gridiron players who missed the cut in making NFL. USA Rugby has been doing this already.

yeah they would need to set up rugby league programs. USA rugby have the luxury of having establish rugby programs in a lot of uni's to draw those players in.

Yeah is crazy to think America has more Rugby players than Australia. I think it is only a matter of time till they start being more of a force.rugby365 wrote: Thu Dec 28, 2017 2:25 pmyeah they would need to set up rugby league programs. Do you think they would take high profile players from nrl or ones at end of their career?

100% the amount of athletes america have is amazing and just tapping into a small percentage of that would be a huge asset for any sportNRL&NFLweLaughATafl wrote: Thu Dec 28, 2017 10:05 pmYeah is crazy to think America has more Rugby players than Australia. If the money is there, high profile players would leave the NRL. Just like they have left to go to Rugby.Fred wrote: Fri Dec 29, 2017 12:05 amNRL&NFLweLaughATafl wrote: Thu Dec 28, 2017 12:41 pmI have a feeling they will get some players from the NRL like the wolfpack has been doing.
