Leagues Clubs Australia (The Association) welcomes this opportunity to provide a submission on behalf of its 82 Member Clubs to The Productivity Commission for its review of the contribution of the not-for-profit sector. The Registered Club industry generally, and Member Clubs of the Association specifically, deliver enormous value to their members and the communities in which they operate through their primary operations (providing social, entertainment and sporting facilities to their communities) and through the extensive contributions they make to a range of stakeholders in their communities.

Member Clubs of the Association play a vital role in fostering the sport of Rugby League at all levels in NSW and Queensland. They provide substantial support in the form of funding, equipment, infrastructure and facilities to more than 400,000 seniors and juniors that play Rugby League across these states, and bring untold joy to the many fans that support the game.

Many people see pokie palaces/clubs as morally wrong .
That's a fair point
But as long as there are big$$$$ involved the Govt of the day is in no hurry to do much about it .

As for Football clubs being involved with them
The NRL are trying to get fans of clubs More into membership of the fOOTBALL club than the traditional old style of joining your local leagues pokies club .

As has been the norm for decades in the AFL ...membership of your football team

Funny thing is AFL clubs are more & more getting into pokies as a way of funding .

I think there should be a limit to the amount of gaming machines per club>>

but when you think about it. how bad are the RSL especially in Sydney>>

definitely >> that was the culture for many years being a member of the Leagues clubs..

and leagues clubs made millions on this by you attending the club occasionally..
