Gold Coast Suns want 'monkey' jibe investigated.





Gold Coast is calling on the AFL and ground officials to investigate a possible racist remark from a fan against Suns' midfielder Aaron Hall.

Fox Sports TV coverage of the Suns' 26-point loss to Hawthorn at Aurora Stadium in Launceston yesterday clearly picked up a member of the crowd yelling abuse after Hall was awarded a free kick.

"Can you even see that far, you monkey," the fan said during the third quarter.

It is unclear if the comment was directed at Hall or an umpire.

Suns coach Rodney Eade said he wanted the incident looked into upon being informed by media after the game.

"If that's the case, hopefully the officials here, the AFL and the people here at Launceston oval get the people involved because it's not acceptable," Eade said.

Hall told News Corp he did not hear the comment.

In 2013, retired Sydney Swans star Adam Goodes was called an ape on the ground during at match at the MCG by a 13-year-old girl.

I think this just shows what a great code the AFL is for trying to find this fan & punish him/her.

If it was the NRL they would probably just sweep it under the carpet & hope it goes away.

the one thing NRL is good at and the media also pointing out,

is if there is something Wrong they get named and shamed.

if someone is involved in a drunken incident or takes drugs named and shamed / banned

in the AFL 3 strike policy (swept under the carpet no one ever finds out..

The Adelaide Crows are "disappointed and disgusted" after footage emerged of a Port Adelaide supporter throwing what appears to be a banana at indigenous Crows star Eddie Betts during Saturday's AFL Showdown.

The video, which surfaced on social media on Saturday night, shows a woman in a Port Adelaide scarf waving her middle finger at Betts before throwing the object in his direction as he celebrated a goal in the forward pocket at Adelaide Oval.

Star Crows forward Taylor Walker was also disgusted and said the fan in the video "shouldn't ever be allowed back into enjoy the football", while Port Adelaide was "appalled by the vision and will not tolerate this type of anti-social behaviour at its games".

"The Adelaide Football Club is both disappointed and disgusted at the behaviour of some members of the crowd during tonight's Showdown at Adelaide Oval," the Crows said in a statement.

"Of particular concern, an object was thrown onto the field of play and in the direction of one of our players."

Firstly, where did you find that lol. A sunday afternoon and you found that... well done. You're dedication to putting AFL down is truely amazing and you have amazing passion. I went for a walk down at paradise point and had a coffee and back home to do the garden. So well done.

Secondly, thanks for finding a post that shows that all is not lost. After 2 senate seats going to pauline hanson in qld it is heartening to see there are people out there ready to name those in society that hold such terrible and racist views. The general outrage over this incident is indeed welcoming. It should not be tolerated. Thanks again for showing that all is not lost and such acts only serve to ostrachise those who aspire to them.
