Victorian AFL clubs alone in debt up to 46 million

Post by AFLsforPussies »

Here the AFL is talking about growing their game overseas yet AFLs own heartland clubs can't even survive without AFL propping them up.
Is well known Bendigo Gold went under forcing the VFL to cut a team and now we hear Victorian AFL clubs have a combined debt of 46 MILLION DOLLARS!!!
:(/ :(/ :(/ :(/

If AFL has to prop up heartland clubs what hope does it have at being sustainable overseas???

AFL has to just face facts that they belong on the arse end of Australia and that is about it.

AFL is banging their head against a wall ](*,) trying to gain respect internationally. Just won't happen. :(/

First line: The AFL is a leader in many aspects of professional Australian sport, whether it be in its handling of off-field issues, or simply in the level of stability at club level.

Nice

well AFL clubs have far higher revenue than any other code, and at least have somewhere to move. Many A league and NRL clubs run on a shoe string budget already, so running at a loss is dire

Yeah like the Western Sydney Wanderers who have nowhere near the amount of money the GWS Giants
have backing them yet the Wanderers still kill the Giants in revenue, crowds, merchandise and support!!

All this money and promotion for AFL, more than any other codes in Australia yet they still have clubs running at a loss and getting beaten in support.

I guess with AFL it's the case of you can't polish a turd and sell it in some places can you. Because the Giants are pretty much just that in Western Sydney.

Irrelevant. The point is most AFL clubs have capacity to reduce spending which will balance their debts. May NRL clubs already have small budgets which makes further reductions extremely difficult

news flash. The giants arent your average AFL team, they are an expansion funded by the AFL's decade of large profits. They're a long term investment so their success or failure is irrelevant atm

Of course success is relevant fool. Who wants to keep funding a lemon when you have a football club down the road leaving you for dead.

success after 4 years isnt relevant for a club that has guaranteed support for decades and hasnt even developed a winning team yet. After 20 years the judgment can be made whether it is worth persisting or not. If it folds who cares? AFL will still be alive in Sydney through the Swans

Your in massive denial, AFL propaganda bullshitters make out their code is thriving financially with no problems what so ever yet AFL has clubs running at a loss in Victoria, a VFL club being cut due to poor funds and a brand new Western Sydney AFL club with falling sponsorship and merchandise sales.

Dont be a tool. Like every code the AFL have issues keeping clubs of different means healthy. Some clubs run at a modest loss, some larger, some run at modest profits and some are rolling in cash. On balance the comp is by far the healthiest of any sport in Australia

There is no propaganda. Every AFL supporter knows the comp has a mix of wealthy and struggling clubs. But it remains the countries biggest, most popular and wealthiest sport
