The public AFL supporter comments in the article are a godawful shame highlighting the ignorance and racism that pervades at a severe level throughout the AFL, from its fans to the very top commission.

this is the same way it's always been in the AFL, apart from the players. You see adumb, there's a certain racist history there which you clearly don't know about. It's institutionalised in the nrl but nowhere near to the degree as it is in the AFL.

Not sure if it is racist, but does seem wrong that AFL call themselves the indigenous code when I am sure Rugby League has more indigenous players.

You just have to look at Souths, I don't think any AFL club has had more indigenous players play for them than the Rabbitoes has had.

The NRL claims 12% of its players are indigenous.
The AFL claims 9% of its players are indigenous.

An NRL squad is 32 players, x 16 teams = 512 players, x 12% = 61 indigenous players
An AFL squad is 44 players, x 18 teams = 792 players x 9% = 71 indigenous players

The vast majority of AFL players look like skinny white guys to me though. Not sure how they come up with that figure.

Facts of the matter are AFL have a stand up legend with strong ties to the indigenous community as well as specific knowledge that would benefit the AFL's 'indigenous' and 'non indigenous' growth.
