Bahahahahaha
Les Murray can cry all he wants about how much the big bad Rugby League in Australia gets over his precious soccer-A League, looking at the Cricket ratings just confirms exactly why there are only three genuinely popular sports in this country that get the big money, they all or mostly get a million viewers at least once a week on FTV sometimes multiple times if more games are shown on FTA during that week.
Les Murrays soccer is now available to watch on FTA television live on Friday nights in the same time slot as the two big football codes in Rugby League and Australian Rules on SBS, the ratings have bombed, and sometimes they are lucky if the game manages to rate above 100 thousand viewers let alone what the RL, AFL and Cricket get weekly with at least one game rating 1 million plus or very close, that mr Murray is exactly why your sport being Soccer does not, and will not get the big money, people do not watch it.
Some of the ratings when looking at Pay TV also suggest Soccer should be worrying not about doubling its last Television deal on monetary terms alone, but actually maintaining or keeping up with the current deal. Some games have rated in the low 30 thousands I am sure this season all ready and definitely in the low 40 thousands. That's nationwide mr Murray, 40 odd thousand people bothered to watch an A League game on Foxsports a few weeks back. The A League does not average 100,000 on Pay TV per game each week, sometimes 2 or 3 games can be played and they'd be lucky to reach 100,000 if you added them all together yet mr Murray expects soccer to get paid as much as the three big sports that actually pull in the viewers even though they don't average a quarter in the ratings on Foxsports compared to the two other big footy codes?
The equivalent ratings for an average NRL game on Foxsports averages around the 220,000 mark whilst the AFL equivalent averages around the 190,000 mark, I have never seen nor heard of an AFL or NRL game rating under 100,000 let alone in the low 30,000 range.
What you are crying about and actually lying about in some cases in your article just doesn't add up Mr Murray, and when you look at the TV numbers on Free To Air television where 1 NRL game on a Friday night will pull in close to if not more than 1 million just like the other two big sports in Cricket and AFL, I just don't know how you could explain and or justify anyone paying soccer anything more than they have got now, not unless you are biased and obviously green with envy of the other lot like you seem to continue to come across each and every time you mention Rugby League.
Not every country has soccer as its official or unofficial national sport, and the country you emigrated to is one of them. I'd have thought you would have learnt to live with it by now.
