Cricket = humiliated, bows down to the A-League

Post by sydneyfc »

So far, the "summer of cricket" has been nothing short of a disgrace in the crowds department.

Certain forummites suggested that the crowds for our beloved national cricket team would hit the roof, and...chase the A-League out of the place...

Tonight, the cricket had the perfect opportunity to prove these people correct....MCG, Friday afternoon through to the night, one day international against rivals South Africa....

now, how much attended you ask? 14,177....yep, that's right...14k people in a 100k~ seater

Now....i'm not the type to sink the boot in at times like these....but I just want to point out that down the road at Etihad stadium, Melbourne Victory just played Brisbane Roar at the exact same time....how much people attended the A-League match you ask? 23,740 :D

Nearly twice the cricket match at the MCG - are there serious issues with live cricket at the moment? Certainly looks like it....If getting humiliated by a domestic football comp is bad enough...when the Socceroos hit town in January....it'll be an absolute hiding for the cricket...

Now i'm certain the cricket sympathizers on here will point to tv ratings...good for them! But how many of those people are willing to spend their hard earned money on watching the stuff live? Not much it seems  ...following the same route as live rugby league....not good! [-X

:drunk:
I turn the soccer on 4-5 times and kept getting over it very quickly. my 9 year old had was even asking to turn the cricket back on. His commentary, common dad, Melb to melb to roar, roar to melb, melb to melb to melb to roar.
That is his assessment of the game that he likes playing, but can't stand watching. A game were possession is important and they can't even make more then 2-3 passes at the top level before they lose the ball. He has played both RL and soccer, so I am ok with him making his own decision about the quality and challenges in both sports.

 even my 9 year old was bored. Then the clincher, the score. Only 1 goal scored in the game and it was an own goal. So it is so hard to score a goal for your team, but easy to score one for the other side. I am sure the 20k were very proud of the win  . Well done Roar for showing your skill and scoring the only goal in the game and losing. But you gloat fc.

Don't get me wrong sydfc, I like soccer. But au soccer is still very boring no matter how many diehards turn up to the game and the TV ratings will reflect it

Even you have to admit that It is pretty concerning for soccer when cricket is more exciting.

Lesson for fc. You kiss the arses of the AFL fans in here all year. I bet they don't back you in here. Maybe because I have made a. Comment they will.

- Wed TV #cricket ODI #AUSvSA Nine #WWOS evening metro 985k regional 487k
Very impressive as ive said all along, but this is a thread purely for attendances and like you said, they've been piss!

H2H comparison between the Cricket and A-League so far
notes:
-In cases of 2 HAL teams per city and/or 2 cricket internationals in the same city, will use the highest attended for either one
-If both teams used the same stadium at a certain stage, then that will take precedence as long as there wasn't more than a month inbetween each game
-City vs city always comes first, however if there was no such instance and rather, 2 games from one of each code was played at the same time, regardless of location, that comes next

How silly of us thinking total viewers across AUST ( crowd & TV ) mean something.

I love the logic.
The hooligans can't grasp that TV execs pay $$$$$ for eyeballs watching a certain sport .
A good crowd is fine ,but that's not what gets the big money ...
Just look at the $$$$ difference between cricket & sokka.

So the sokka got a bigger crowd.
Cricket will have more watching.

Lol the sokka think tank in here is a laugh a minute.

Right, I just noticed something else since this dingaling is going on about crowds.

I noticed ya mighty WSW had their first home game and it was again, only 14,691, were not you and your idiot mate claiming that this game had been sold out for weeks?

Well 14k in a 19k stadium is not a sell out, it's not an attend out, it's bullshit for the so called champions of asia.

We'll have no more or this team being called bigger than anyone, ffs the Giants aren't far behind and they are as pathetic on the pitch as the eels, suck shit you tossers, the truth is coming out and the band wagon is dispersing. :(/

A midweek game, during school week, yea terrible crowd, about parra eels average for parra stadium.

The other thing it was close to a sell out as we have sold 16,700 season memberships, so pull your head in, I wouldn't get into a eels versus Wanderers crowd size, you are going to lose, like you have done before

14k for the champions, ha.

If the eels won a gf or wcc, you can bet their first home game would be a sell out no matter what time it was played. Make some more excuses.

It was a Wednesday blah blah blah.

Did you know the NRL has Monday, Thursday night games(8 games) all throughout the season and have done for years?

They also play Friday nights too, oh and SOO is always on a Wednesday night, so stop the excuses, it was piss poor.

I also like how you like to try and use week nights as an excuse for a lower crowd, not one of you have ever given the NRL that luxury you are asking for now, so no, it was piss poor for a reported (by the lying zealots) that it had been sold out weeks ago, just tick that off as another lie.

More imaginary numbers, if parra won gf we would get heaps of People lol, if if if.

Like I said lets see if you are calling attendance bad next Saturday

It's not a bad crowd, you are the one claiming it is, I suggested a mid week game that still averaged about what parra does at pirtek, you are the one celebrating its bad. Lol

Which one of you simpletons predicted the sell out ,weeks in advance.
I would ask if it was you but I suspect you would lie in the answer.
You do have a fair bit of form with telling lies.
