IMO this is really a Sydney problem - every other state generates good crowds in pretty much all codes - is every one up there on the bread line????

And a fairly dud match. While the swans are winners, the $$$ allowances they get is pretty clear on the pitch. A big diff. It was like watching men's vs the under 18s last night.
It's not surprising the cwowds are dropping. Sure folk will go with their Chardonnays and call out "wef wef that's a penalty" and not understand the swans employ a zone defence on kick outs "markup Swans!!"

but they the continuously dwindling cwowds is cause for concern and I believe it's because most games are not an even match, two sides coming from completely different places in terms of $$$ and players size Nd skill level.
A bit sad really. And the thousands that go there for the novelty will continue to dwindle as they unconsciously feel the fact it's a farcical uneven playing field out there in most matches.

Well KE why did the roosters only get 18k last night if your right in what you say?? Not even half the Swans crowd - I think it's more of a problem with the people living in Sydney - they might be scared considering the terror raids - after all they did threaten to bomb the MCG on GF day or behead someone in Martin Place. Crowds across the board in Sydney are way down!

Sydneysiders watching the NRL last night
509K
Sydneysiders watching the Swines last night in the biggest game of the year
135K
& actually you could take about 10K off the derps & misses & add them onto the NRL
have a look at this
a scene repeated all around ANZ last night
lots of attendees at ANZ last night realising they were at the wrong game very early.... one a classic , a dead set belter ... the other ... as boring as bat shit

it wouldn't have mattered if the Roosters had got their expected 23K crowd which is as many as would ever attend a week 2 final between these 2 in Sydney
it would still have had fumblers wanking on that it was less then half of the Swines crowd
but lets not deflect shall we GI joe
Swines V Wions 2003 71,028
Swines V Freeho 2006 62,438
SWines V Collingthorn 2012 57,128
& this year
another 9K down
VFL prelim finals crowds have dropped 23,000 in 10 years or so
a reflection the sport has hit its limits for interest some time back in Sydney & is on a slow ... slow decline that will speed up once the filthy salary cap cheating swines have their COLA removed & the effects take place over the next 5 years
you simply can't say the same thing about the NRL in Sydney though
finals crowds can be all over the place depending on who's playing & where & that's always been the case .... from very good ... like next weeks crowds
to very bad
like last night
but there is no obvious downward trend like the derps & oopsies has been experiencing for the last 10 years or so

Pretty average all round, I have no idea why the sports in this country at this time of year don't work out some agreement if they happen to have codes from the same place playing in these big games on the same weekend. I'm no swans fan at all and the roosters are not my cup of tea either but everyone knows that that part of Sydney is weird, the supporters float around between Easts, swans and tahs. Putting games on at the same time from one side of Sydney to the other and making fans pick and choose is ridiculous in every way you could think from maximizing TV ratings to merchandise sales because more people can go to more games and spend their money while adding a better atmosphere all round because of bigger attendances.
That tweet is a perfect example, look what the Eastern Suburbs types are like, spend money to go to one sporting event and spend the game watching something else. I don't think you'd ever see this in any other part of the country.
Roosters Swans Waratah fans (that picture is funny on sooo many levels AFL fans) :>::

whats wrong dont like the NRL going up against the AFL & getting a flogging every time
it regurarly happens in melbourne, with games at the MCG & storm games at AAMI stadium
again last nite only show how far the NRL is behind

Beat, look at the tv ratings idiot, more people watched the roosters, it don't matter if you add the crowd, add the crowd another 5 times dopey and it still won't be seen by as many that seen the roosters, look at the picture you dopey flog, that's worth a chuckle n a half.
Oh, and wtf should I care what the roosters get against the cowboys from far north queensland?
I don't follow either frigging team
