Their first final last Friday night in Sydney was played in front of a crowd of 25k, half of which were Manly fans. Empty seats galore at Allianz Stadium. Where were all these proud Bunnies fans. Raiderdave has told us all year they are a huge club deserving of the tag pride of the league. Again I ask, where were these so called fans? Can anyone explain where they were?

It tells you a lot about the appeal of RL to the people of Sydney.

Oh and before you merkins start, your precious tv ratings are also down yet again this season.

All these so-called powerhouse teams, yeah, my club was the first out of the Sydney clubs to have a 20k average and it took the next team (bulldogs) 20+ years to beat that. Souths were minor premiers in 1989 and had an average of 11,846, wow great figures, the true powerhouse of Rugby League.

And as for the swans thing, we both remember you using the swans semi final crowds two weeks ago to have a crack at Sydney RL clubs, that is until I showed you that the swans having played 1 more game (8 all up) at ANZ average 45,566 which you assumed was the biggest of the lot but was shown it was nothing of the sort with the eels just one of 9 Sydney clubs average using your logic 58,246 which isn't even the highest for RL seeing as my team rarely makes it that far.

Souths were that crap, they finally threw them out after they had gone bankrupt for the 3rd or 4th time with no money, no ground, no decent sponsors and no decent crowds, that's something they beat my team to. Good stuff aye, even at Parramatta's lowest, and Parramatta were never a glamour club until the 80's and have seen the lowest of the lows in regards to performance (we rank second last and last ended up merging a few years ago for most wooden spoons and most clubs were 40 years older than Parra) Parramatta have never gone that low. In the modern era, the lowest parramatta have averaged is 8,300 in a shit year on and off the field (as usual) but also had Super League kicking the crap out of the whole game with some games not even played that year.The whole League was done over in 1995.

Parras next worst time for crowds was in the early 80s because Parra stadium was being built and they played games at Belmore (Canterbury Bankstown for you aflers - one of our biggest rivals home) oval. They had 2 years with 9,000 averages, yet when the stadium opened, the average hit 20k straight away the season it opened. That 20k took another 20 years before any other Sydney club (Canterbury) averaged that much. It wasn't souffs, they finally managed to crack a 20k + average last year for the first time in their 100+ year history. And while I'm having a crack at the doggies also, when the eels played at their stadium, they averaged as much, if not more than the home team

Since 1957, souths have had 7,475,779 go to home games (non finals) in the same period and with a crappier team on the park for most of that time esp in the early days, Parramatta are at 8,190,951 (non finals). Canterbury are at 8,258,013, but if you were to take them back to before ANZ stadium, they were way behind Parra too. (The eels really do need a bigger ground or a move up the road and a decent run of good footy on and off the park)

Make of that what you will. Yes Souths had a few seasons kicked out, my team outside one period in the early 80's have never dominated and their crowds are still bigger overall. (Yep just had a quick look, the Dogs are the only team in front of the eels for home attendances now over all, but we'll get it back soon enough)
