I can't remember that last time it happened in an Aussie rules AFL game but a bit of biting happened a few years ago in RL. I'm not sure if you are the best advocate of fair play KE, players in your sport tend to bite and put fingers in regions that make them smell. Let me take it from here mate ;)

the ref didn't see the incident so fifa were unable to make a decision straight away, but they had a 2 day deadline, i just got back from work so i'm going to check updates now but i don't think a punishment has been decided yet

http://www1.skysports.com/football/news ... ar-striker

a decision to be made within 24 hours according to sky

i did a bit of research and apparently fifa can hand a huge ban for a repeat offence like this, especially something as disgusting as biting

up to a 2 year ban from internationals and further club games

i'd be happy with 2 year international ban and 24 liverpool games(his last ban was 12 games IIRC with liverpool, and 8 with ajax)

On a serious not SFC - the corruption in FIFA for me is one thing that really puts me off soccer - I hate how FIFA doesn't pay tax during world cups and wants domestic comps to shut down during a World Cup - I don't hate soccer but I must admit it really turns me off it - why isn't more done about it??? Lastly Soccer fees for kids are at least $150 which I have been told goes directly to the FFA to pay for the A League is this true?? Lastly Frank Lowry does he own the FFA??? And did he get rich off it??? These are the things I have heard and can you let me know if there is any truth???? Not having a go but my son loves soccer, but these things hold me back from liking it as much.

hey mate, i absolutely agree, especially on the fee parts, its crazy how expensive it is. the state admins are greedy as shit and try to take as much money as possible out of the game, very little of the money actually goes to the FFA, the state federations run and govern their own states. it's pretty silly to be honest

when i was still playing, my rego for rugby league was $40 but for soccer it was $130...its even higher now

eventually the ffa will envelope all the administrations... or at least i hope so. they cant rely on its grass roots popularity to fill their pockets forever

and on fifa, yup, corrupt bastards. i could make an essay on here about how much i detest them but i'd take all night

like everything, there's always a bad side to a good one and for me as much as i love soccer, it's my bread and butter, but there are plenty of things that i dislike about it too.

lowy made his money from building shopping complexes, he owns westfields and made his money from there, a lot of people feel he should dip into his own pockets to help the game out at certain levels but he's stingy as hell. he's done a lot for the sport in this country but with anything, he also has his faults

and yeah FIFA have some strict rules when it comes to hosting, they didn't want the comps to shut down but they did want the pitches to be untouched for 2-3 months before the world cup. this would only apply to the stadiums being used...which just so happen to be all the biggest ones which caused a lot of friction between the ffa and the nrl/AFL. in the end we didn't win the bid anyway but ffa's angle was that we could get all these huge stadium improvements - new stadiums were going to be built for NQLD, perth, western sydney etc, things that will help other codes in a certain way and thus they wanted the support

interestingly, many NRL clubs supported the bid because of the money it was going to bring to help reconfigure major stadiums and even the suburban ones which were going to be used as bases for international sides but many AFL clubs didn't support it

i can understand both point of views

in a perfect world i wish we had won the bid and that everyone involved in the ffa, AFL and nrl could of sat down and discussed ways of making it work

I agreed with the bid 100% wanted to see a few games - just didn't think any sport should suffer - aside from that going to make an effort to go to a few Victory matches this year (my son keeps asking). Do you remember a Victory v SFC game at Olympic Park where Sydney was beaten 5-1 (I think 2nd year of A League??? Was working at game and was a great spectacle - is there a lot of bad blood bwt SFC and VFC??

yeah i remember that game haha, wish i didn't though! but its ok we got our revenge beating you guys at the etihad last season 5-0 :\:

yeah there's a lot of bad blood, it might sound really plastic because the a-league is still really new but essentially victory and sfc have been to 2 figure heads for the a-league since the start and have been involved in a lot of huge matches in terms of points and other things. generally it records the biggest tv ratings of the year when we play eachother, in soccer circles it's called the big blue(but that's mostly what pundits and fox call it)

some petty off field and on fields incidents in the past too which were nasty but just more fuel to hating one another i guess

even with the new expansion teams in melb and syd, many syd and vic fans consider eachother their biggest rival which a lot of that comes down to the heart being very very poor since their inceptions(hopefully it changes now since the city takeover) and the fact that everyone hates wsw anyway :)

and yeah shame about the bid, even if you're not a soccer fan i'd emplore anyone to attend at least 1 world cup in their lifetime. i was there in germany in 2006....greatest 2 weeks i spent abroad...ever. it really is a huge occasion, i met a lot of rugby and aussie rules fans a long the way and they loved it too.

the last thing i;d ever want to see is other sports fans suffer at the expense of another sport, people on here that claim i hate rugby league even though i played it as a junior are ludicrious if i ever wanted their comp to shutdown for the world cup. all i wanted was there to be a successful way for all our comps to organize through it and in the end benefit..especially the fans

and hey who knows, fifa may still strip qatar of the world cup if the corruption allegations come through, but its likely theyll give it to the US since they're slightly(well largely) ahead of us in terms of stadia infrastructure

plus the ffa and abbott are openly trying to sue FIFA ATM to get the $45 million back which wont make them very popular in fifa circles

Yeah - agree think that USA will get it especially since they will make 1st cut, stadia, TV time slots and of course money - Abbott's a tool - yah can't tell me the Australian government wouldn't have done a risk assessment and briefed how bids work - it's a face saving exercise and he's lying! Might go to SFC v VFC game - them and Adelaide seem's to be matches which has the most on the line - WSW just bogans!

Jesus, the attention span of you twits is bordering on that of a shitzu pup. Seriously ladies, show some concentration for a change and follow the thread.

Suarez is one customer, one example. But the culture of cheating in soccer, taking the dive, is endemic. It's nothing short of disgusting! I mean the msg it sends is: hey try cheating some time by acting like a 3yearold who's pissed his pants and can't deal with the fact. It happens in every single game and soccer fans accept it. Woeful stuff. The entire code is in need of a significant culture change.

The AFL is not far behind it actually. And, while streaks ahead of the AFL and soccer I also have concerns that since the biff has been more harshly penalised in the nrl, there's a real risk of the moral fibre of the code disintegrating in the same manner. SOO 2 was a good game marred by the niggle.

But let's stay on topic. Soccer, a code with mammoth cultural probs on the field. It's players act like three year old girls who've wet their bed and want to blame their brother for it. Woeful, with the AFL not far behind [-X
