Didn't he get cleared????sydneyfc wrote:suarez should be banned for life, personally i hope fifa ban him for at least 2 years, he's a disgrace to the game
we've yet to see on-field molestation like the nrl has seen though...
the ref didn't see the incident so fifa were unable to make a decision straight away, but they had a 2 day deadline, i just got back from work so i'm going to check updates now but i don't think a punishment has been decided yetSwans4ever wrote:Didn't he get cleared????sydneyfc wrote:suarez should be banned for life, personally i hope fifa ban him for at least 2 years, he's a disgrace to the game

On a serious not SFC - the corruption in FIFA for me is one thing that really puts me off soccer - I hate how FIFA doesn't pay tax during world cups and wants domestic comps to shut down during a World Cup - I don't hate soccer but I must admit it really turns me off it - why isn't more done about it??? Lastly Soccer fees for kids are at least $150 which I have been told goes directly to the FFA to pay for the A League is this true?? Lastly Frank Lowry does he own the FFA??? And did he get rich off it??? These are the things I have heard and can you let me know if there is any truth???? Not having a go but my son loves soccer, but these things hold me back from liking it as much.Swans4ever wrote:Didn't he get cleared????sydneyfc wrote:suarez should be banned for life, personally i hope fifa ban him for at least 2 years, he's a disgrace to the game

I agreed with the bid 100% wanted to see a few games - just didn't think any sport should suffer - aside from that going to make an effort to go to a few Victory matches this year (my son keeps asking). Do you remember a Victory v SFC game at Olympic Park where Sydney was beaten 5-1 (I think 2nd year of A League??? Was working at game and was a great spectacle - is there a lot of bad blood bwt SFC and VFC??sydneyfc wrote:hey mate, i absolutely agree, especially on the fee parts, its crazy how expensive it is. the state admins are greedy as shit and try to take as much money as possible out of the game, very little of the money actually goes to the FFA, the state federations run and govern their own states. it's pretty silly to be honest
when i was still playing, my rego for rugby league was $40 but for soccer it was $130...its even higher now
eventually the ffa will envelope all the administrations... or at least i hope so. they cant rely on its grass roots popularity to fill their pockets forever
and on fifa, yup, corrupt bastards. i could make an essay on here about how much i detest them but i'd take all night
like everything, there's always a bad side to a good one and for me as much as i love soccer, it's my bread and butter, but there are plenty of things that i dislike about it too.
lowy made his money from building shopping complexes, he owns westfields and made his money from there, a lot of people feel he should dip into his own pockets to help the game out at certain levels but he's stingy as hell. he's done a lot for the sport in this country but with anything, he also has his faults
and yeah FIFA have some strict rules when it comes to hosting, they didn't want the comps to shut down but they did want the pitches to be untouched for 2-3 months before the world cup. this would only apply to the stadiums being used...which just so happen to be all the biggest ones which caused a lot of friction between the ffa and the nrl/AFL. in the end we didn't win the bid anyway but ffa's angle was that we could get all these huge stadium improvements - new stadiums were going to be built for NQLD, perth, western sydney etc, things that will help other codes in a certain way and thus they wanted the support
interestingly, many NRL clubs supported the bid because of the money it was going to bring to help reconfigure major stadiums and even the suburban ones which were going to be used as bases for international sides but many AFL clubs didn't support it
i can understand both point of views
in a perfect world i wish we had won the bid and that everyone involved in the ffa, AFL and nrl could of sat down and discussed ways of making it work
yeah i remember that game haha, wish i didn't though! but its ok we got our revenge beating you guys at the etihad last season 5-0Swans4ever wrote:I agreed with the bid 100% wanted to see a few games - just didn't think any sport should suffer - aside from that going to make an effort to go to a few Victory matches this year (my son keeps asking).
