Sydney Derby II

Post by Drac »

So the Swans v Giants Sydney Derby is Saturday. It'd be pretty funny if it was the biggest crowd in Sydney this weekend. Which it will be.

Throwballers, let me save you some time. Here are some of your standard deflections to cut and paste into your replies:

And how many watching on TV?
Will it outrate the Jetsons?
Are they counting eyes?
As big as State of Origin?
How many free tickets?

And my personal favorite response: :(/ :(/ :(/ :(/ :_<> :_<> :_<> :? :? :))) :)))

Haha, what a pathetic competition the nRL is. Beaten in your own heartland.

Cheers for the laughs.

The Sydney derbies in the A-League and in the AFL are always the highest attended games for their respective weekend

In saying that what are the chances of a GWS upset?

Parra V the Tigers

biggest club attendance in Sydney in 2014 ..... in any code
&
only NRL games are likely to beat this attendance later this year

Yeah and Parra's average crowd with that game 19k - yep lest than half the figure, that's because for the rest of their home games they have averages 14k. Soooooo they must have been all tigers supporters - eh no there average for 8 games is only 13600!!!!! So we can conclude that out of a crowd of 50k where 28k (approx) are regular season goers - 22k are just interested bystanders nothing more!!!! Swans however Average is 32k. (More than Parra & Tigers combined) their membership is 39k and well there just top of the heap, the head honchos, número Uno, the big cheese the number one footy club of any code in NSW!!!!! :D :D :D :))) :))) :<> :<> :<>

I knew I was forgetting some of the tropes.

Crowds don't matter, it's the % of stadium filled!
If it's not at 100% capacity it's not a sellout!

spot on where do they go for the rest of the season :-k
a few simple answers
the weather was clear so they unpacked all of the cardboard cut outs,
they fudged the figure far more than usual
or it was a condition of the win whilst people where playing the pokes. they had to attend the NRL game that weekend, before they could collect their winnings!

seriously why do 50k turn up 1 week when can only get 20k every other week, there is something fishy with that

Hang on, I thought the raw crowd didn't matter? Isn't the % of stadium filled your measure of a crowd's worth? That crowd was only 60% of the stadium's capacity. That's 40% of the stadium empty. Not a sell out Dave.

Now the Swans' last home game against Port was, using my own logic, smaller than the Parra v Tigers crowd, coming in at 41k. But in terms of % stadium filled, your preferred measure of crowd size, it was at 85%, which when last I checked, was bigger than 60%.

So what's it going to be? Will you abandon your insane insistance that % of stadium filled is more important than the number of people at the ground, or will you admit that the Swans game against Port had a "bigger" crowd than the Parra v Tigers match?

More lies.

There have been Sydney RL games already this year that have had higher crowds than what the AFL, Union and soccer have got in NSW this season.

There are more big derby games to come yet with Parra hosting the Bulldogs at ANZ where the crowd could hit 60k.

Can you point out the AFL, union or soccer club games in NSW this season that have had higher crowds than the NRL?

The So-called local derbies in the AFL and Soccer this year to date in NSW have had TV ratings not much higher than the crowds and you and ya dopey mates think these games are the biggest?

Get off the drugs.

Ahhh yes, awesome! The local battle of the butt plug

I might even attend and am wondering by how many thespians can belt em...?

But importantly this matchup gives us the best indication of TOTAL AFL support in sydney. Take away about 10-20% to account for blow ins from abroad and randoms who have nothing else to do on the weekend and voila! There's the very best indication of your Total sum of AFL support in allllll of sydney. My bet? 32k minus 15% and we'll have total support for AFL in syd at 27.2k  compared to total rl support in sydney and you got yourself a bees dick me AFL folks, that's right y'all got ur selves a bees dick

Hint folks - prob best notto act proud nor showcase it in these thread. :(/

Answer the question then Parra what percentage of the TV audience are parra fans???? Why hasn't it translated to memberships, sponsorships and crowds???? Me thinks perhaps the bongo juice your swilling is affecting your reasoning there Parra!
