They get great crowds and have developed a culture of attending the game.

They take a long term view and this has seen the game expanded into a national format giving it a presence across the nation and they continue to grow the game in non expansion markets.

It'd be nice to be able to have a half serious discussion.

The AFL do all the KPI's extremely well by world standards.
Stadia.
Crowds.
Ratings.
Sponsorship.
Merchandising.
Electronic income.
Media.
Interest.
National image.
Tourism.

The AFL could improve on.
Being the "keeper of the code" especially the laws wrt non-AFL football.
Helping all other non-AFL football in Australia.
Distribution of funds to the member clubs.
Promotion of the game.
Developing the game overseas (even though there have been huge advances recently).

I'll give my opinion on nrl if this thread doesn't get derailed by the usual suspects.

All the below have been proven ,so don't whinge.

Lie. They are experts in this area,especially about how popular the game is.

Hush Money..Another area they excel in ...Payoffs are quite common to victims ,so that things are kept hush hush & the "IMAGE " is protected.

Cover ups..Deals with the cops to keep things hush hush..well done.

But most of all probably the top of the pile ,is the ability to brainwash fans into thinking the scarecrows who play this abortion of a sport are supreme athletes who could play other sports & be word champs...
Yet how many of these athletes who step out of the AFL bubble achieve anything.
They were shown up by Slater as having little skill as fumbling a ball & not being able to kick straight are not considered "Talents" in other sports.

The toughest man to play this sport Barney Hill or whatever his name was ,the man who had a rep for whacking people when they were not looking was supposed to be a boxer when he stopped fumbling.
Didn't have 1 fight,chickened out when called out to get in the ring.

i like the way how the AFL learn't with the way it handled the way handled the merging of the Fitroy Lions and the brisbane Bears.
with teams continually struggling on and off field, it offers financial support if the team needs it eg with Melbourne demons.

the AFL owns most of the licences of the AFL teams and doesn't allow private ownership, & end up big egos like Clive Palmer and his Gold Coast United soccer team fiasco
