RL State of Dumbarses

Post by Beaussie »

I can't get over RL supporters. They seem to prefer their state win a meaningless series over their club winning a premiership. Weird lot :-/

Given the huge difference in the crowd and viewers from their home and away games it seems many people living in NSW and QLD like SOO but can't be bothered with NRL.

Meanwhile the AFL is having crowds that the NRL can only dream of, even outside of Victoria.

All because they rely on Origin to get over with the Australia sporting public.

NRL - dead in the water. Because the execs don't care about it. And neither do the fans.

Look at the averages, Dave "Allen" not the smallest crowd you can find. That's where the nightmare is.....for the NRL.

And you don't care just like the rest of them.

Being a New South Welshman I was dissapointed after the game, but wow that a game! it didnt dissapoint, i was on the edge of my seat for the whole game! You AFL guys dont get the SOO because it is a culture thing that we RL fans grow up with, being born in NSW it was the hating of king wally and there is nothing better than seeing your state beat the enemy. the rivalry between NSW and QLD is a bred culture alot like the AFL passion and rivalry with its big clubs.

The streaker in last nights state of origin game 3 i think was good for the game on a promotional perspective, the game has been the talk of the nation. they should also offer the streaker the NSW halfback position, cos he had more of a crack than Mitchel Pierce.

Origin III breaks television records

NRL.com

Thu 18th July, 2:46pm

Last night’s 2013 Holden State of Origin Series decider has become the highest rating Rugby League game of all time with 4.232 million Australian viewers tuning in through the Nine, WIN and NBN networks.

the Series recorded the biggest attendance in the event’s history with 215,883 fans across the three games (203,309 set in 2004);

the Game III audience (4.232 million) surpassed the 2005 Telstra Premiership Grand Final (4.102 million) as the highest rating Rugby League match of all time;

Game III was the highest rating Origin match in history (previous best: 2012 Origin Game III, 4.063 million).

The match peaked at 3.103 million viewers across the Five-City Metro last night and achieved the highest regional rating ever for any Origin game with 1.533m viewers (previous highest: 2013 Game 1 - 1.466m).

An average of 1.165 million viewers watched the game in Sydney on Channel Nine,with a peak of 1.292 million; while in Brisbane, there was an average audience of 865,000, peaking at 952,000.

Answer this then, 214. Where's the passion at NRL level? Where is it? Nowhere, and that's why the NRL is not on the same level of support nationwide as the AFL is. SOO is not an NRL club game and yet it's hogging the very support that should be flowing through the Sydney NRL clubs. It's sucking it dry.

It's been more talked about than the actual result of the game. It shows what a meaningless gimmick SoO is.

yeh alot like when gws bought izi falou. all the media was talking about was him and not about gws or their results, but you AFL fans were so loud and brash to point out that was good publicity.

ANOTHER NOTE...
do you guys think that the AFL grand final this year will beat the tv audience for game 3?? not a smartass question but seriously...

GWS... our smallest team and a player that was used as a promotional tool, he got the NSW media talking about GWS and that's exactly what the AFL wanted.

SoO 3 is your biggest game and more people are talking about that fat streaker than who actually won. That's not what the nRL want. As I said, meaningless gimmick :wink:

If the Swans play and the weather in Sydney is shocking meaning more people will be in doors watching TV, then yes it can break the record. What certainly would break the record was if the Grand Final was on a Wednesday night in the middle of winter, and not a Saturday afternoon. :wink:
