Origin rules the ratings!
Origin rules the TV ratings
11:00am June 6, 2013
The Nine Network split its Rugby League coverage into three shows, the match, plus pre- and post-match segments, and they filled the top three places on OzTAM's overnight ratings.
NSW's gritty eight-point win over Queensland was watched by 2.433 million viewers to be the most-watched for the evening.
The bulk of the audience was made of Blues supporters with 1.145 million Sydney viewers while Brisbane had an audience of 779,000.
In Melbourne there were 431,000 viewers and 77,000 people watched in Adelaide. The match was not screened in Perth.
Last year Game Three was watched by 2.626 million viewers, which Nine claim was the biggest audience ever for a State of Origin match since official ratings began.
Wednesday night's State of Origin Pre-Match was the second most-watched show for the evening with 1.787 million viewers and the Post-Match program was third with 1.475 million watchers.
It was a big night for Nine with its Nightly News (1.389 million) finishing fourth and its reality show The Block Sky High (1.302 million) coming in fifth.

I apologise people for the late editing and finishing of this thread, i got called out. Anyways...
SOO Game 1 got 2.433 million Metro viewwers, only 193 K off the biggest SOO tv audience (Game 3 2012). Just imagine when regionals are added.
Im guessing that Game 2 will break the record, now that QLD do not seem so invincible and the media attention and interest will go sky high these next three weeks.
GO THE BLUES!

Re: Origin rules the ratings!
Yikes only 77k last night in Adelaide. Nine would be regretting showing that on the main channel.

Re: Origin rules the ratings!
Adelaide total pop is only 1.25million. Say an avg household holds 4 people, equates to roughly 1 in 5 households across all of ye olde adelaide simply lapping up their Rugby League last night.
Not great but not bad at all. :D

LolL yeh i dont get some of the comments in here from certain ppl sometimes. they laugh at Adelaide having 50K viewers for a RL game yet argue black and blue that 50K FTA viewers for a swans game (or a third of that for GWS game) in sydney somehow shows AFL's 'increasing popularity'.King-Eliagh wrote:Adelaide total pop is only 1.25million. Re: Origin rules the ratings!
Not bad for a game with NO opposition, can anyone give the break down for the peak and low ratings for the whole game - would be interested to know if that figure remained steady or decreased after the first half?Raiderdave wrote:wanna try that again cockheadQueenslandISAFL wrote:Wow look at that, the ratings decreased from last yearseems like the nrl is a sinking ship

Re: Origin rules the ratings!
The reason the nRL didn't want SoO on a standalone weekend is that they knew it would rate less than a Wednesday night in prime time. It's clear that playing sport on a weeknight is a winner for TV, that's why Monday Night AFL rated so well this week on Foxtel. Outrated the nRL game by 100,000 to be exact. =D>Raiderdave wrote:Swans4ever wrote:Not bad for a game with NO oppositionRaiderdave wrote:wanna try that again cockheadQueenslandISAFL wrote:Wow look at that, the ratings decreased from last yearseems like the nrl is a sinking ship

Pies or beaussie can you please do an IP address check on Xman and KE? It's pretty clear KE has hacked into his account, but checking the IP addresses for a match would make it official. Then banning KE would be the way to go, as hacking is clearly a breach of forum rules.Xman wrote:The NRL SOO sure is a ratings colossus!
