A short note to those living in the isolated southern states

Post by King-Eliagh »

Hi isolated southerners!

How's it going waaaayyyyy down there in that cold isolated place? :)

Well just to let you know what's going down in Sydney, Australia's largest, most populace and popular city. It's a lil sometin called NRL!!! The cities alive with NRL fever. The sport has, as always, taken up 90% of newspaper and television sports media lately and tonight is the first match of 2013.

You lot rug up tight now down there ok. Please stay tuned to this thread as I'll be sure to provide you poor bastards with more updates on what's going down in the more civilised area of Australia.

Yours sincerely,
KE :)

Are you talking to Tasmania? :-k

Melbournes been over 30 degrees all week and won't go under until next Thursday

I hear NRL is all the talk in Sydney. No surprise with 14 sharks players on the brink of suspension and the game in tatters.

Anything else going on in sin city? :-k

Doing well KE. Been averaging 32 degrees this month so far and people keep moving here to live, with our current rate of growth we will be Australia's most populated city in the next 15 years or so. We have also been recently voted the worlds most liveable city ( yeah i know it happens every year), people just love the place. We have just had the Australian tennis open and will have the Australian Grand Prix in a few weeks.
How's it going in rainy, smelly, smoggy, traffic congested Sydney? I heard your local domestic rugby comp is in trouble. Are they striking? I hear they don't pay them much. Poor bastards. Any way hope to hear from you soon.

Sincerely
Pies.

How's it going in Australia's most livable city for a third time in a row? Anything but cold. We're going for a possible record for consecutive days above 30 degrees in March.

for a city alive with nRL fever you'd think more than 40,000 would show up to the season opener....

Wow. Thanks guys for giving us a gob full of gloat. I know... one must justify one's city as 'liveable' and rely on fanciful studies by those who dont live in town when one is stuck and isolated in the southern most depths of our country...i get it and its ok because it makes you isolate buggers feel somewhat..well somewhat special :)

But to tell you folk the truth i'm reporting from melb right now, have been here all weekend for work and pleasure.. and wow, i must say it is hot! You're not lying about that! Very warm and humid indeed and dont the locals show it. Fashion wise people are really showing they're not accustomed to warmth. I mean really, stubbies and the singlet in hipster style and in 80's style is just not 'cool' you guys  And secondly I am really over walking past people who, clearly not used to the weather, are sweating and stinking to high hell. What a stinking mess things are down here right now. It's really quite putrid. I certainly wont be coming back for a while and am looking forward to flying back to the civilisation of sydney soon.

Though i must say on my strolls round town i did enjoy seeing the ONLY people supporting sport to be in storm jerseys and those in bars watching the nab cup looking completely bored watching essendon whack gws in yet another lopsided game...things def not looking up down here for yet another lopsided season ahead...

Ya gotta feel for you guys. I'd hate gws too if i was an ignorant southerner

For the sake of our international members, it's widely known that melbourne is cold and cloudy much like England, that's for anyone not wearing Xman's rose tinted shades.

Another report from Melkbourne folks :D . I'm currently in the business lounges being fed while I await my flight home. I must say the business lounges here are 3 or 4 notches below the class of the sydney lounges but meh, atleast the folk in here arent sweating like pigs. Whilst reading the age this morning I noticed that the AFL and marngrook footy is barely noticeable on the back few pages. On the contrary the NRL is dominating all sports in the age! Wow! It's also all the buzz on the news and yes I know the AFL comp is yet to start but it really is lovely to see this city embrace and love its NRL. With their eyes wide open one would still find it difficult to even know the NAB cup is on down here

Reporting live from the deep isolated south,
KE :salute:
