Let's see. The NRL received $900 million in cash.
They immediately payout $96 million in advances leaving $800 million which is exactly the budget for the last period $700 million deal + $96 million in advances on the current deal.
Also the NRL are committed to propping up the Storm estimated at $25 million.
Forget the contra deals the NRL have lost all the freebie "news" from News Corp.
That looks like the status quo, but in effect the nrl are in for a tough time.
The huge investment that the AFL have made over the last decade is now just staring to kick in
with incrreasing market share in Canberra, GC, Brisbane and WS.
With the exit of News there is no reason why they wont get on a winner now and get on the AFL bandwagon.

Nice try Cos.
Re: NRL worse off
Mate that estimate of 96 million is also off the mark. That total is on the proviso that next years cap will only rise to 5 million. No hope. These underpaid players who play this game will not settle for under 6 next year and 7 2015. They made a promise to fund the whole cap and a million on top. Seems to me once the players and clubs get there whack there wont be much left for the other stuff.

We won't be needing help once the mess in the wake of the salary cap rubbish is cleaned up. Won't be long for that.
