Australian Football - unbeatable

Post by cos789 »

Watched the Geelong Vs Hawthorn game and was treated to a fantastic display of football, big ground, big crowd, big atmosphere and a true contest that had you rivetted untill after the siren.

It doesn't have to be SOO to be something special in Australian Football.

Had a die hard friend over who always bags football. Of course the usual "blowout"comments when Geelong kicked 9 goals in the first quarter, the cursery "they still fighting" in the second quarter and then the "they're making a fight of it" in the third quarter. Well by the final quarter he was hooked, gone were all of derogatory comments - just silence - until Hawthorn hit the front and some platitude about persistance winning out. Of course the last minute he was completely shell shocked.

I think we have a convert. OK, not a convert but he will watch Australian Football with an open mind from now on.

.
Nice try Cos.

Yeah that was a fantastic game. At the end I thought "sport doesn't get better than this"; 2 hrs of fast paced, skillful, exciting team sport in front of a huge crowd.

The NRL have this 3 times per year in SOO. The AFL have it almost every week!

It was funny reading comments on LU about the NRL on gem. A number of RL supporters said they were going to watch the cats v hawkes blockbuster instead because it was a better match. The ensuing insults they received were both typical and sad. They all sounded exactly like our resident bogan parraeels.

Oh piesman, don't pick on poor para. He's grumpy because he can't use his favorite AFL insult on this form. :(

Don't worry, he'll rage quite again like he always does.

I was lucky enough to be at this game with of all people KE who was equally as impressed as your mate cos (though he will probably never admit it here). What a game indeed.

KE attended two AFL games in Melbourne on the weekend (Hawks vs Cats and Blues vs Swans). You think he was ever interested in attending Storm vs Panthers on the Saturday night? As if, I mean comon, barely 9,000 Victorians were interested enough to attend and our KE as we all know doesn't even attend NRL games in Sydney. Anyway, for KE, he has attended more AFL games in Melbourne than he has NRL games in Sydney (so called RL heartland and his home city).. Go figure eh. Another convert putting more money into the AFL coffers... me thinks so. Cheers KE, the AFL appreciates your contribution and ongoing support.

beat the irish at what? they play a hybrid game with a completely different shaped ball. try kicking a soccer ball accurately like a drop punt. it takes years to get used to the different spins and floats, not a few weeks. if they played with an AFL ball the score wouldnt even be close.
