When will this blatant thuggery all stop? Time for the Government to make the nrl a criminal organisation.
A FORMER NRL player turned lawyer punched a man in the face four times while he was on the ground and then kicked him in the face, a court has heard.
Julian Demonde Troy will be sentenced this afternoon on an unlawful assault charge in the Supreme Court.
Mr Troy, now of Sydney, pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful assault with aggravating circumstances, partly aggravated by the fact his victim Jeff 'Squizzy" Taylor could not defend himself.
The court was shown security camera footage of the incident from outside the bar in the early hours on Sunday morning March 26, last year.
Former Australian rugby league representative and Cronulla Sharks and Parramatta Eels player Aaron Raper acted as a character reference for Mr Troy saying he has never seen him aggressive to anyone.
Mr Troy faces having his accreditation to practice as a lawyer removed by the NSW Law Society depending on the outcome of his court case.
