Current NRL players from AFL states.
In the AFL there are close to 100 players from Qld and NSW (or so I hear). So here is a question for RL supporters. How many current listed NRL players have spent a majority of their junior development in AFL states (Vic, SA, WA and Tas)? Im looking for current players from NRL clubs who spent 10 years + of their life before they joined the NRL in the back waters of Australia. I would prefer that if they played RL in Victoria for example that they didn't just move to Sydney at say age 10 and start playing league (not that there is anything wrong with that). I just like to know how many NRL have been developed from us Southern states (sic). Show me some details or websites as well (I will believe wikipedia even) that show their history.

How many players from the NRL come from overseas??????????????
Now answer this question and you soon realize that the NRL has way more competition for its positions then the AFL, making it tougher for League players from Perth and other states to make it to first grade.

Re: Current NRL players from AFL states.
Eels I can list 4 players from my team who moved from overseas to play AFL. There are probabaly more and there are also some players from my team who moved from overseas at an early age. Collingwood have 3 players from Ireland and 1 from USA for example, who came over as adults (I can name names if you want). So I assume that other clubs have a similar amount. However I want to know the list of NRL players from Australia (the country you live in) who come from Vic, SA, WA or Tas. If you dont have any players then that is fine its not the end of the world.eelofwest wrote:Pies two can play at that game....piesman2011 wrote:In the AFL there are close to 100 players from Qld and NSW (or so I hear). Yeah so your trying to make it look like RL is a 2 state game.......well if i am to add all the international players in the NRL it basically makes the AFL look like a backwater sport. So what is the point of this thread again Pies????piesman2011 wrote:Eels I can list 4 players from my team who moved from overseas to play AFL. Hi pies can you show us where you got your 100 figure from here? You ask others to provide links etc and your reference seems to be 'so i hear'...piesman2011 wrote:In the AFL there are close to 100 players from Qld and NSW (or so I hear). In any case I'd imagine the bulk of the 100 you refer to are from south of the riverina or the ACT (which isnt NSW by the way, although the AFL believes it is) and a sprinkling from north QLD.

Re: Current NRL players from AFL states.
No doubt RL is bigger internationally. I am curious about the development of RL in Australia. It is obvious to all that the AFL has taken big leaps in Qld and NSW with about 100 current players now comming from those states. I was just wondering how many boys in the NRL have truely come from the states that AFL would claim as theirs. I like RL as a game I want to know how are they going with grass roots development in areas of Australia that are not considered their home turf. So rather then trying to label me as another AFL troll instead maybe you can contribute and give me some names.eelofwest wrote:Yeah so your trying to make it look like RL is a 2 state game.......well if i am to add all the international players in the NRL it basically makes the AFL look like a backwater sport. You are trying to make it out that NRL is a 2 state game when actually it is played in more countries and States then the AFL.
BTW how long has the NRL has teams in SA, WA for?

I didn't get the 100 figure from websites it is just what I have heard from posters on other websites. Let me look into the figure and while I am doing this for you perhaps you can get some names for me.
http://www.aflq.com.au/index.php?id=132 44 from Qld (there may be more)
http://www.sportingpulse.com/assoc_page ... D=10797696 (here are a few from NSW/ACT. I am having more problems with the NSW players but will get back to you)
Re: Current NRL players from AFL states.
Parramatta Eels Squad players from other states and country’s
Justin Poore Born in Perth
Daniel Penese in New Zealand
Justin Horo born in Auckland, New Zealand[
Luke Kelly born in Katherine, Northern Territory
Fuifui Moana Moimoi (born in Tonga)
Joseph Paulo (born in Auckland
Ben Roberts is a New Zealand
Willie Tonga (born in Canberra, Australian Capital Territory)
Now that is just the Parramatta Squad. No doubt if we go through the NRL it highlights how many country's and states are playing in the NRL.

Like I said RL is not a 2 state game it is much bigger I know about England, Frace, Italy etc however I was curious about the Country I live in. If you dont like the thread dont contribute that is fine. I also know the RL has secondary leagues in WA, SA, VIc and maybe even Tas. But I was curious about the number of these players who make the 1sts. I was wondering if the players from Southern states were truely from these states or if they had moved to NSW etc at an early age. If anything if they dont have any players in the NRL comming from AFL states it shows that the NRL has lots of room to improve. Why shouldn't we have players in the NRL we clearly would have athletic and talanted boys in our states as well.eelofwest wrote:Pies are you trying to play Dumb>>??piesman2011 wrote:No doubt RL is bigger internationally. Thats great Eel. But can you give me a Victorian or a Western Australian. I hope with the next TV deal they really get some more grassroot development happening down here.

Exposure is everything and RL in SA, WA, VIC have all been pitch black until this year so really hard to try and make a comparison when the NRL has had 0 exposure through the networks and the AFL has had 30+ years of coverage into non AFL states.
Also add to that the Fact that NRL has no teams in WA, SA and 1 team in VIC then it becomes clear to why there is less players coming out of these states.
Why ask a question you already know the answer Pies, stop your not this stupid are you????

If there are any nrl players from AFL States then the relevant State Governments should be initiating laws to deport these traitors and their families from AFL communities at all costs.

I was not sure of the answer. But if you say it is 0 that is fine. As to me playing dumb I suspected there were not many but I wanted to know from some people with a lot more knowledge them myself. My intention was not to put down your sport in any way.eelofwest wrote:I think your playing dumb.piesman2011 wrote:Like I said RL is not a 2 state game it is much bigger I know about England, Frace, Italy etc however I was curious about the Country I live in.
