Not at the moment but they will gain fans when they start winning.

In 2001 the westcoast eagles finished in the bottom few after also being uncompetitive the year prior. The got beaten by between 60 and 120 points every other week.

In 2005 they played in a GF and won it in 2006.

In 2005 collingwood finished second bottom and got done by over 100 points in the last few rounds. Theyve played in the last 3 GFs

Things change pretty quickly in the AFL and everyone knows expansion states love a winner and hate a loser. Imagine when the storm drop to an average team finally.

Why comment when you have no idea? #-o ARs is a high scoring game and large margins are part of most high scoring games.

A loss like this between top and bottom is hardly unheard of. Geelong beat Melbourne by more last year. Everyone understands the giants will take time to develop and once their talent matures will be a very strong team for many years.

Dear god, I wasnt privvy to this until now. Perhaps raider daves comment that the swans were told to run dead back in round 1 applies to all the AFL sides matching up against the GWS team.... :? From my viewing it seems most sides take it easy on the GWS side in the first half, making for a competitve looking half of footy and then make sure of the win by pumping them in the second half. I congratulate the hawks on their win and would like to warn members that more controversial things have happened in professional sports than the governing organisation controlling the results of certain games. [-X In five years time I may well be proven to be correct on this one folks...watch this space! :D

Wow, just wow. You really do know nothing about ARs or sport in general! #-o

There are plenty of examples where teams get absolutely smashed in one game, but are far more competitive in others! Its the nature of sport. Imagine taking a teams worst performance as a sign of their true potential!

Example: Melbourne were beaten by Geelong to the tune of 186 points last year. Yet they drew with Sydney, thrashed Adelaide and beat essendon.

GWS have been belted in more than one game you silly goofball. And seriously if you knew anything about the game you'd see that teams who are even or there abouts at half time are simply coasting. After half time they turn it up a gear. Well done to the hawks, my second team, for taking the sport seriously and going out as professionals from the first bounce. =D>

Again, your complete lack of understanding of ARs astounds!

1. Most lowly placed teams get thrashed regularly!

2. GWS are a young team and patchy performances are par for the course.

3. The defensive structures played today more often than not result in a closer first half and a free running higher scoring second half as players get tired. They just can't maintain full ground running to maintain the zone so the scoring becomes easier. This is even more relevant to a young team.

You seriously are making a bigger goose of yourself with every uneducated statement!

I know GWS are young and getting thrashed regularly snot for brains. So your lovely worked points one and two are, snot. I'm insinuating the other teams are taking it easy against GWS. Your 3rd point has a bit to say but it doesnt really hold. These youngsters are fit enough and have not played more than half a season in the big time so matchfitness is no longer an argument xman. Another point, young players recover faster.

Yes folks in five years time it may come out, in one way or another, that the majority of sides playing against GWS this year were ordered to 'go easy' on em but be sure to get the win.

Again more bs!

The TV commentators including experts say the AFL games change into a freer scoring game in the second half because modern defensive tactics take a lot of energy! This observation is well known and manifests regularly. Young 18-20 yr olds are fit, but not to the level of a mature AFL side. They fatigue far quicker. It takes many full seasons and preseasons to develop the fitness required for full game running.

So your entire theory is based on a well known occurrence in the modern AFL game that the second half is higher scoring. Well done!

Yeah it is very obvious that teams are resting players and bringing young kids on when up against GWS and the suns, have to congratulate the Hawks for treating the home of the AFL serious and playing for the full 4 QTRS. =D> =D> =D>
First team to do it all year, hopefully we see more AFL teams play for the full 4 qtrs and show the world of AFL that the Suns and GWS are a joke and should be treated as such. :D
i should also throw in several other teams but they have been shit for longer then i can care to remember....
