There is a growing belief that a serious push from Ten - headed by league-mad chairman Lachlan Murdoch - is unlikely. Late last month, Ten warned of a 40 per cent profit loss.

The comment may have been made by news but the fact CH10 are struggling for cash did not.Raiderdave wrote:Beaussie wrote:Oh no.![]()

Those lines about News Ltd are old. You've been blaming News Ltd for your codes ills now for decades. When will you lot move on and give it a rest. So much for an independent commission and bright future. You lot seem to be still stuck in the past.Raiderdave wrote:Beaussie wrote:Oh no.![]()

Seven cuts newsroom costs by about 10pc

THE Seven Network newsroom has been hit by cost cuts of about 10 per cent and there are fears the budget knife will cut even closer to the bone following last week's surprise profit warning by owner Seven West Media.
Seven News has already conceded first place to a resurgent Nine News in the key markets of Sydney and Melbourne, and sources say savings of about 10 per cent were ordered by management even before last week's profit downgrade.
Insiders fear more cuts are looming at Seven.

the only thing on the wane around here Bearsy is your sense of honourBeaussie wrote:To add to Channel 10's financial woes, now Channel 7 is struggling. Not a good time for the NRL as it attempts to tell tv networks it's product is worth $1 billion despite interest on the wane when you look at crowds and more importantly dwindling NRL tv ratings.

Fair point indeed.piesman2011 wrote:If I wanted to steal RL from Channel 9, I wouldnt be talking up the product the way that channel 10 and 7 have been. Instead I would be ignoring it hoping that CH 9 make a small initial bid and that I could then beat the first and last rights. If however I was just hoping to drive the product price up but I couldnt afford to make a serious bid (to cause problems for C9). I would be talking the product up so that 9's initial bid would be as high as it could be without my company having to even step into the ring. I believe that CH 7 and 10 are not going to make a serious bid otherwise why talk up a product that you are looking to buy for the least amount possible.
