The suns make a profit in their first year!

Post by Xman »

So much for the money pit! =D> =D> =D>

Buzz: How long until GWS makes a profit?

Andrew: Our funding model finishes in six years. By that stage we expect them to be breaking even or making a profit. The Suns exceeded our expectation and made a profit last year.
Fantastic job at expansion by the AFL! =D> =D> =D>

Amazing effort by the Suns.

Well done Gold Coast in getting right behind your new AFL team. =D> =D> =D>

If only the Titans could say the same.

Actually, IMO I reckon it's the new "boutique"model with low stadium costs as the mainstay.
Clubs with ownership/good deals are very profitable.
The GC stadium doesn't have a big capacity so you'd imagine they'd be profitable at these levels.
Nice try Cos.

Thats an official BS point for Vlad. As much as I follow the AFL we all know the suns are being pumped to the eyeballs with funds from the AFL. Profit shmofit. Why does he lie?

Do you RL fools realise that each AFL club releases a yearly annual report because the clubs are effectively owned by their members. Why would they lie when the evidence is there for all to see?

The fact is the AFL set the SUns up with fantastic financial support so their overheads are minimal. Now they can just coast along without the hurge pressures of massive overheads. I bet the Titans are green with envy. No amount of fake fans won't give them gate receipts!

Idiot! #-o

They are answerable to their members! Are you suggesting they are lying to them and asking for cash handouts on the side? So we don't believe any official reports now?

Why wouldn't they make a profit? They have more members and better gate receipts than the Titans, plus a far better stadium deal! =D> If the Suns are losing money the Titans are rooted! #-o

The best part about this is that all the NRL fans were boasting that the Suns and Giants expansions would drain the AFL of all it's money and stuff them right up. Well sorry boys, that doesn't look like it's going to happen!

Apparently the Suns made a killing on the Foo Fighters concert! It pays to have great league management! The Suns future is assured because the AFL invested in their infrastructure from the get go! =D>

Pretty sure I read they made a nice return off Big Day Out too.

Smart forward thinking from the AFL in the set up of the Suns. Paying handsome dividends in their first season.

A similar stadium deal has been arranged for GWS as far as I'm aware.

With more members, crowds and a better stadium deal than the titans, why wouldn't they be profitable?

Palmer was previously critical of the 'exorbitant' and 'prohibitive' stadium deal at Skilled Park, which was so expensive that it prompted him to reconfigure seating arrangements to save money, much to the displeasure of fans.

The viability of any Gold Coast team will hinge on the economics of their home ground, and it is thought the refurbished Carrara stadium, managed by the Gold Coast Suns, is a better financial option.

Well done AFL. =D> Securing the long term fututre of the Suns by spending the necessary funds on their infrastructure. This is one of the reasons the AFL made a small loss last year, the first in a decade. Funny how NRL fans claimed this was a bad thing! But now they can just sit back and continue to save their cash each year for more important things grass roots development, while the suns remain financially Independant for years to come.

Meanwhile the titans........
