Crowds of 5-7k for Storm if it wasn't for New Zealanders

Post by Beaussie »

Clearly, many so called Storm supporters are in actual fact New Zealanders and fans of the Warriors living in Melbourne. Gee, don't the few Storm fans living in Melbourne hate that fact too. :(/ :(/ :(/

http://www.thebaistand.com/viewtopic.ph ... 3&start=15

As pointed out by one such fan below, without these New Zealanders, Storm crowds would be 5-7 thousand odd a game and the Storm would fold within a year. Within a year. :-$

The Melbourne Storm are clearly not sustainable without NZ supporters and News Ltd handouts in the amount of $6 million annually (am certain old Roy once wrote it was $11 million annually). :-$ Reason of course being, Victorians just will not embrace Rugby League no matter how many premierships the Storm are gifted through cheating or how many exhibition games are sent to Victoria. I've been saying this for years. Melbourne Storm are a financial basket case and will never be embraced by the good folk of Victoria. Give it up already NRL. #-o

Point proven here.

bunch of sooks aren’t we... you guys need to be grateful for these "so called warriors fans", without us you would get 5-7 thousand a game and your beloved club would fold within a year.

i am a storm member. i don’t support the storm, i go for the love of the game and I have 1 team, and that is the warriors.

accept the loss gracefully and be thankful for the great atmosphere the warriors provide whenever they are in town. 2 of your biggest crowds of the year have been on the back of us been in town..

No wonder you are the most hated bunch of fans in the game.

I would have thought embarassment was more appropriate. 5-7k crowds without New Zealanders living in Melbourne. Waste of time NRL. Give it up already. Victorians, just like South Australians and West Australians hate your silly foriegn import you call football. Stick to NSW and QLD. You're in real trouble there as it is. We're coming to get ya. :<> :<> :<>

Despite the current uproar, Melbourne Storm's latest accounts reveal the embattled club to be in a sound financial position, having turned its previous year's $967,000 loss into a $1.6 million profit.

The club's recent success in the National Rugby League, including two premierships in the past three years, has obviously started flowing through to its bottom line, with income from membership fees rising by more than $200,000 to $1.3m during last season.
Hmmmmm.

Soooooooooo, since then, the Storms crowds have gone up and they have cut back the freebies. But who cares, Bearesy found a post on an internet forum for a so called fan stating they lose money and the crowds nearly all black.

11,978 average in 2009
14,670 average in 2010
14,246 average in 2011

Yet according to bearsey and his new internet friend from a storm website, the crowd is half black, the club loses anywhere between 6 million and 11 milklion a year, and they should just fuck off and die.

BS. Here is the truth. Reality is a hard pill to swallow. :-$
At the end of last year, the Storm's accounts show that it had made a $1.65 million ''profit''.

That money is believed to be a chimera - league insiders estimate that the club ran at a deficit of up to $6 million.

The Storm's lack of money is covered up by the fact that a wholly owned News subsidiary, Valimanda Pty Ltd, owns the licence from the NRL to run a club in Victoria. In legal terms, Melbourne Storm Rugby League Club then runs the team and charges Valimanda ''management fees'' to cover its costs.

In reality, Valimanda pays varying amounts to the club - $12.93 million last year and $13.62 million in 2008 - to offset the difference between how much the Storm can rake in from memberships, ticket sales, corporate sponsorships and events, and the $17 million a year it has to shell out to pay players, management and marketers.

Included in the money that News pays to the Storm is the annual ''grant'' paid to each of the NRL's 16 clubs, which last year was $3.45 million.

While the Storm's auditors, Ernst & Young, have not commented about the club's financial fragility over the years, the directors note in the accounts that the club is dependent on the drip-feed of money from News.

The Melbourne Storm website says the club has less than 8500 members (it was aiming for 10,000 this year), and that last financial year, memberships generated only $1.13 million - although that was about $260,000 better than 2008.

Prove it.

I posted that info from the Australian from its business section and if need be, I can get the 2010 NRL state of the game report.

There lies, more lies and then there is complete bullshyte.

The Storm as I have proved can actually stand on their own two feet and that will only get better when the next TV deal is done because all clubs will have the cap paid for by the NRL. The problem the Storm have is quite simple even for the uneducated morons here, all RL falls under the Storm in Vic***ia. No other club in the NRL has this burden because the ARL looks after everything else, the Storm were and still are a News Corp creation.

And in 2000 they had 14600. Despite GF after GF, and a new state of the art stadium, they havent grown at all after 10 years of success.

I don't need any explanation. It was as clear as glass, including the fact that you're willing to rely on NRL propaganda.
