Another big rl name to GWS

Post by cos789 »

GREATER Western Sydney has again signed one of the biggest names in rugby league, but this is not another AFL publicity stunt.
Ned Mortimer, the son of former New South Wales and Test rugby league champion Chris Mortimer, has turned his back on league to pursue an AFL dream with the Giants through their development academy.

Mortimer, 20, the cousin of Parramatta star Daniel Mortimer, turned to league after his dreams of impressing for the AFL draft were ruined three years ago when a knee injury ruled him out of the under-18 carnival with the NSW Rams.

He spent two years playing league, but is back in the AFL fold as a member of the GWS Academy and will be a mature-age top-up player for the Giants in this year's North Eastern League.

Good to see him back
Nice try Cos.

RL will soon be nothing more than a feeder league for the AFL. Increasingly no one wants to play the game.

But he never really played league right? Just for 2 years?

Cos lettuce you're clutching at straws here buddy. This is almost as funny as your English RL player belting a bunch of yobbo santas.

I'll remember this when a Meninga signs with an AFL club.
Rugby League has a lying culture. Altering crowd figures, relying on inaccurate TV figures from regional NSW and refusing to distance itself from Leagues Clubs and obtain it's own club memberships as it relies on LC's to survive as private entities.

Ned Mortimer - a "massive" name in League. Another tragic loss just lucky number of juniors keeps growing - think it was 8% last year.

Well the 8% is incremental growth ie 8% more than last year. No doubt some left so the actual number of new players was greater than 8%. On wards and upwards.

Don't avoid the question. Junior numbers mean nothing if you don't keep them in the game. I repeat; What are the retention rates like?

Topper I have got no idea but if the numbers went up a net 8% year on year then the juniors are growing - quite alot actually. If they did not retain 8% then the growth for the year had to be 16%.

Feel free to go and find out what the retention rates are. Bottom line NRL junior numbers are growing quite nicely.

Actually the other good growth area for the NRL is Victorian school kids.

Don't give me that last paragraph without evidence.

And what sort of maths says if they didn't retain then growth had to be double?? If they didn't retain net growth would drop!!
