Footy on Good Friday
Should the AFL schedule a game for Good Friday. I'd love to see Giants vs Swans next season at ANZ Stadium. Why should Victoria get all the blockbuster games and why not have a game of footy on Good Friday?

Fingers crossed that Vlad approves footy on Good Friday in Sydney next season.
Greater Western Sydney eyes fixed Easter date for Sydney derby

GREATER Western Sydney will push the AFL for a major day for the derby with Sydney Swans next year, with Good Friday a potential contender for a permanent fixture on the calendar.
The league has resisted calls from Victorian clubs in recent years to host games on the religious holiday, but the potential to create history around its $200 million expansion club could be enough to convince the AFL Commission to change its perspective.
It is believed Good Friday or playing a stand-alone fixture a week before the rest of the AFL competition begins are the options that have been canvassed between the clubs and discussed with senior figures in the game.
The AFL has so far opted not to break the NRL's mortgage on Good Friday matches, but an AFL game in Sydney, locked permanently into ANZ Stadium to capitalise on the crowds for the Easter Show at Homebush, would be the perfect return serve in the Sydney turf battle.

After reading the comment today in lollipop sydney paper "The Daily Smellie" (actually it's time for mine right now) about Sydney coach Longmire wanting the Sydney derby on Good Friday, I can't believe the selfishness on his thought process.
In his defence I can forgive his comment and blame it on his simpleton discourse for this year it could work (if GWS were in the comp) as the holidays of Easter and ANZAC Day clash in a round. However when the holidays don't align, I can not believe his neglect that he has left Collingwood out of the equation.
Collingwood are more then a team, they are an industry that are keeping the AFL afloat and without them playing in the 'special ' days, anything else is simply just a farce of trying to create some tradition. A few suggestions,
Collingwood v GWS - "Joffa and his 12 Apostles" Clash
Collingwood v Sydney - "The Crucifixtion" Clash
Collingwood v Anyone else - "Because any Fridays a good Friday to promote the AFL if The Pies and playing" Clash
