I think that growing your own league players is what seperates good clubs from great club....
Being part of a club that boasts a very high percentage of home grown talent i am all for the NRL rewarding discounts for players that stay and graze in there own paddocks from junior levels(under 20's) to 1st grade, they must be a full time league player and i think that at 200 games they should recieve a 25% discount of there wages towards the salary cap...
The NRL needs to act upon this and reward clubs for keeping and being part of a strong recruiting and scout program...
Toooooooo many clubs pour alot of money and time into players only to be unable to afford them when they get known...
Discount there wage and more can be kept.
Thoughts?
I believe that team scouts are the ones that win clubs premierships, and lets reward clubs that grown there own.

The Dragons are lucky that they "acquired" the Wollongong area to pick up some junior talent from....
I think the Dragons have made some bad calls lately on some of the talent that they have let go and ones they have kept...( Lance Thompson makes them look bad every week... and the bloke took pay cuts for years at the Dragons so they could hold onto other players!! Loyalty is a two way street you know...)
I agree that some long standing ( ten year) players should be discounted...
You would have to say that the Storm have the best talent scouts going around ( none of it home grown!!!).

Unfortunately, not to much Rugby talent being grown here in Melbourne. We have to import, we have as many good Aussie grown players as we do other imports. The selections in the State of Origin should reflect that.Willis 21 wrote:You would have to say that the Storm have the best talent scouts going around ( none of it home grown!!!).
