As it was the 1950's I have no clue. Shortage after World War 2 maybe?

Well as the story said in the original article, they'd arrive at the ground on a weekend to play and the posts were cut down.

Now I don't know about you, but I'd be very surprised if there was a goal post shop around the corner selling Rugby posts in Victoria where they could all chip in to buy a new set of posts before carrying them back to the ground and putting them up 10 minutes before deciding which team was running North.

No offence, xman, but you really shouldn't allow Vatman or Thomas access to your computer, they're idiots.
