I have
Not my fault the AFL is so stupid it can't get its schedule right .
well funny enough ch7, ch9 and fox wouldnt use the seasons tally to determine popularity. They know that the AFL rates higher for the most games, which is why they pay more
There's not that much difference on a yearly basis . But we got our own TV channel and have maintained much of our digital media

there is always going to be something like this happening in Rugby League. The best you can hope for is a Murray River tournament

Well lets see.
In a fortnight the AFL will have its first round. Nationally, AFL fans will only be able to watch a maximum of 6 games for the round because all but 2 are played directly against another game (unless you watch a replay which isnt counted in Wookie's ratings). Nationally, NRL fans can watch all 8 games. So 6 AFL games v 8 NRL games. Multiply that by 25 rounds and yes, the NRL have a lot more games on TV.
Interestingly, the 6 AFL games per round account for 18 hours viewing compared to only 16 hours viewing for the NRL. Yet more hours watched somehow equals less countedviewers in the ratings. How you think that's comparable is beyond me
It shouldn't be that hard to figure out that its an advantage to have each match played into its own home state.
In a round of football every AFL viewer can watch at least 4 FTA matches , the other 30% can watch 17-20 hours of AFL
every RL viewer can watch 3 FTA (Quiet often less) + half a dozen rep mates, the other 30% can watch 12 - 14 hour of NRL.
In 8 of the week from rounds 10-20 a PTV viewer can only watch 4 or 5 matches and all viewers are restricted to just 2 FTA matches.
what you fail to account for is that not all FTA games are equal. The prime time games rate way more than games during the day. The AFL's 4th FTA game is a day game on Saturday which is the worst time slot, so it adds no more in ratings than a prime time Fox game.
So the NRL still have an advantage in the meaningless season tally. A measure showing the differences in scheduling, not ratings at all.
Seriously, if the NRL was more popular on TV why does it get outrated on almost every FN when it's one game v one game? Why did it get outrated on every finals game last year? You think these are anomalies? Just a coincidence?
Night Matches
AFL: 22 Fri Night, 22 Sat night, 5 times on a Thursday night + 2 Monday nights. = 51
NRL: 24 Fri night, 17 on a Thursday night and 3 of a wendsday night = 44

so 7 the difference out of 200 plus games.....
The only real advantage we have is an extra Saturday arvo game on FTA, which is nothing compared to showing every single game in isolation. Add to that 6 out of the 8 NRL games are in or near prime time

NlolRL, I just checked out last years matches The first 12rounds on Friday night we win 5 and you win 7 hardly 'we won nearly all' as you absurdly try to make out. after r12 to about Rd 20 is our origin period which sees less focus on club football and the 34 best players missing most weeks, From rd. 20 on regionals don't seem to have been available otherwise we would have won most of those as well.

So are we excluding origin from the comparisons now? Cool
Now for the truth, not your bull shit. I looked at the 9 FN games from April 1st to the 22nd May, since the AFL didnt have a Friday game in round 1 due to easter.
The AFL won 7 of these 9 Friday night games, only losing FN 2 due to Essendon and their massive suspensions, and FN 3 due to an extra late game in Perth.
But here is the clincher. Of these 9 FN games:
- the NRL had 2 games below 1m, the AFL only 1 which was the game involving the depleted Essendon
- the NRL only had 2 games above 1.1m, the AFL had 7
- the NRL only had 1 game above 1.2m, the AFL had 6
- the NRL had NO games above 1.3m, the AFL had 3
Now, tell me the AFL didnt dominate the Friday night comparisons

MONDAY NIGHT: 3 MATCHES. Could you read it that time!
So were not counting games that make you look bad and in the order that suits you

- well it all ends up the same
So 11 and 12 are out as well as many of your games at the back end of the season
Rugby League had4 games over 3million. how many did the AFL have again
Rugby league ratings totalled over 110m how many did the AFL's total again

So comparing the first 9 Friday night games of AFL and NRL is somehow unfair? WTF? Friday nights are the only fair comparison given we both have a single game shown nation wide in prime time on FTA and Fox.
And if you think the NRL would be winning most FNs for the rest of the year youre kidding yourself. You figures were ordinary

To get to the crux of your argument, what your saying is we should ignore all 2000 matches that are played during the season and just focus on the hawthorn matches
And just to bring you back to reality further, rounds 1-12 and 20 - (ie non Origin period ) we won half the time anyway and that's despite the fact that 4 of your teams don't play in that timeslot. Ooh and Essendon don't count either nor does our opening games because they were played Thursday night. And rep football that doesn't count either because you don't have it.
Do us all a favour and get back on your medication!

Friday April 1st:
AFL Coll v Richmond 1215k
NRL GC v
Broncos 951k
Friday April 8th:
AFL Power v Ess 930k
NRL Sth Syd v Syd 1005k
Friday April 15th:
AFL WC v Richmond 1025k
NRL NQLD v Sth Syd 1060k
Friday April 22nd:
AFL
Haw v Adel 1322k
NRL
Broncos v Sth Syd 1089k
Friday April 29th:
AFL Nth v Bulldogs 1214k
NRL Eels v Bulldogs 1159k
Friday 6th May:
AFL

NRL Eels v Sth Syd 966k
Friday 13th may:
AFL Adel v Geel 1322k
NRL Nth Q v

Friday 20th May:
AFL
Haw v Syd 1356k
NRL
Broncos v tiger 1034k
Friday 27th May:
AFL Syd v NthM 1298k
NRL Canb v manly 1006k
So the AFL won 7 of these first 9 Friday night comparisons for the year.
1. How in the hell does this show you won half the time???
2. Hawthorn played only 3 of these Friday night games. The Broncos, your only mega-club, played 4 times :>::
3. Hawthorn by crowd averages is only 5th most popular team, and normally 7th when Essendon have a team and Carlton a decent.
4. I never said dont count Essendon games, I gave you the win. I was only explaining why that was our lowest FN figure of the first 9
5. We didnt have a FN game in round 1, but even if you take this non-comparison you still get flogged 7 to 3.
6. None of your home and away games rated over 1.3m all season, yet we had 3 in the first 9 rounds!
Any comment?

Give it up pal!!!! You're like the Jap soldier in the jungle fighting the war that is long over. This race has been run and won. RL had more TV viewers last year than fumbleball - FACT!! Why don't you concentrate on this years fumbling pre season? Crowds down 22%, ratings down 20%. These figures are appalling. Why the massive drop off??

These figures above show the AFL is more popular on TV. You tally wins due to a longer season, and more available games on TV.
