I guess that's 40,000 people who had nothing better to do with their day......

Just saying.
40k, in perfect weather? Is that it? :-k

87k at the MCG and it rained for over a day straight before and during the game. =D> In fact the Anzac day game sells out to the general public before the season even starts. It's only the walk up MCC members that determine if it's full or not on the day

Not sure why this is funny. The game was a sellout. Only a solid day of rain resulted in some members not showing up.

The Melbourne storm game was also down by 10%.

RUGBY League is a slower game than it was 20 years ago.

Talk that the game is quicker than ever is simply nothing but rhetoric.

The game is slower, the contests are lessening, and the way it's going we won't be happy until we have the "perfect" game - no tries because there are no line breaks and no missed tackles, but perfect completion rates and enough wrestling to put the audience in a dull snooze.

RL, more boring every year.

Fox Sports replays of old games, where not nearly as much time is spent on the ground, have since confirmed it.Shortly after Newton, Bob Fulton and Wayne Bennett both agreed the game was quicker than it is now.
do these guys work for news ltd as well? :-k

Contests are lessening?? Who wrote that anyway, the freaking AMA?? Contests slow things down for God's sakes! That's what makes the game great. You have to work to get loose.
