Yes we know that. Thats the point. NRL expansion will struggle because it needs funds to grow at grass root level. Where is the funds coming from? The clubs are already putting their hands out for a significant increase in handouts from the NRL to fund things like salary cap increases. 14 of 16 clubs are already losing money, some perilously. This is where the majority of the TV rights money could go. The NRL fans need to pitch in and make these clubs financially viable by attending games and becoming members.

If the majority of the money to fund NRL clubs comes from the TV rihts there will be little left for expansion. The NRL needs fans going to games and people taking up memberships. Shame it only appeals to red neck bogans.

about 60% will go to clubs ... around 4 to 5 million extra each a year ...ontop of the 4 million per year they get now from the NRL
leaving 40 million extra per annum for the ARLC to look at other projects .. like development nationally

& as for funding expansion
the NRL doesn't do that anyway

unlike the AFL who essentially own their 2 new clubs & pay all their bills & cover their massive losses

the NRL will leave private consortiums to look after the financing of the new clubs
all the NRL will tip into them is the said 8 to 9 million per annum ... the same as the other 16 clubs
leaving the ARLC to look at other areas of the game
