The 10 biggest NRL flops of season 2012

JOHN GRANT

It's not hard to do a $1 billion television deal when Kerry Stokes, Kim Williams, Lachlan Murdoch and David Gyngell are throwing their cash at you. The NRL and new commission have failed to fix the big problem areas in the game - refereeing, mid-season transfers and an inconsistent judiciary.

They also ignored fans in the TV deal by providing no extra free-to-air coverage and switching back to a night grand final.

They eat their own in the RL world.

Sorry where did the claim of equal dollars come from? Perhaps equal value given the NRL did not pay to establish two extra clubs and thus an extra game.

Show me how 225 million in cash less is equal.Dont you find it strange that they couldnt find a buyer for internet rights oh thats right theyve already sold 70 percent and left out telstra.Only in the land of the League.A strange place where numbers are fudged, lies are told and egos take center stage.Where men follow the yellow brick road to the Gyngall wizard who will tell you when to play your game.who will play and when you will watch it.Now if he could only give you a brain.lol

Mate all i can say for you is smoking weed it hurts your brain cells :D , time to give up i think...

AFL 18 1.250million minus the 220million minimum for GWS and Suns to survive, minus the 6million dollar marketing tools Khunt and Falou = 1.018million now lets take into account that the AFL average crowd has dropped nearly 4 k this year and it is clear to anyone that the 4FTA games are loosing your clubs huge amount of money through the gate.

NRL 16 1.025million + 100-150million for internet rights and add our broadcast rights for the NZ warriors of 100million = 1.275million

This thread is about TV deals and who got the better deals, financially the NRL deals are far superior by close to 250million. Coverage the AFL is superior end of story.
Please explain how 1.025b is a better deal than 1.253b

.
because our deal isn't 1.025 Bill you D head ... #-o
it will be considerably bigger then that

most likely bigger then Vicky Kicky's .. in fact its almost assured

take out the major $$ cost in your deal
2 new sides at 220 million .. off your 1.250 Billion ... you have 1.030 Billion left

take off the major $$ cost in our deal
:-k :? 8-[ .... there isn't one .. so theres nothing to come off ours of any note ..... we're left with 1.3 Billion or there abouts

VFL smashed .. by the NRL

Most likely hey? Another of Dave's predictions. We got a far greater amount in the cash component so your placing enormous faith on Internet rights, especially since you've already sold some.

I've answered it before. Less than the AFLs Australian deal, and you know it will be. Your 200m behind and only have a portion of Internet rights to sell.

Quick geography lesson for Dave: NZ isn't part of Australia!

The Australian component of each deal shows the value of each code to the Australian TV networks. We're in front and will remain so, because we're Australia's number one sport on TV.

This is NRL V AFL broadcast revenue. Why shouldn't the NRL include their NZ rights, its part of their broadcast revenue. Does it really matter if they end up with a bigger deal overall?

They may get a bigger amount overall when NZ is included, time will tell. But the NZ component isn't part of Australia and doesn't indicate the popularity or value of RL in Australia. International yes, but not here. It's like saying basketball is Australia's number one sport because of the nba rights.

I think we are comparing the NRL with the AFL and if the NRL get the bigger broadcast deal overall it doesn't matter if some of that deal comes from outside of Australia. Just my opinion.

I'm comparing the value of each code to Australian tv. It's like last years GF when the NRL claimed they won after including NZ ratings. What's that got to do with Australia?

The NZ Warriors are a team in the NRL. Because of that Sky Sports NZ will pay around 20m a year to watcn the NRL. It's No different to the TV money that comes from CH 7 /9 /Fox or formally Ch10.

Just because nobody else wants any part of the AFL, who exist, toally in there dingy little corner . Does not mean that the rest of the world should practice celibacy.
Rugby League, the dominant force in Australian sport!
