In your dreams, Dave. You lot have to have a massive increase in turnover for that to happen, and the TV deal is not included in that. Never mind that the TV deal won't attract as much as the NRL thinks it will.

& an extra 100 million dollars a year isn't a massive increase :-k

That's not turnover and that won't happen anyway.

It's a pay off seperate to regular club revenue. You know, memberships and attendances and merchandise and so on. It won't be $100 million anyway. It'll be less than $50 million.

this isn't club revenue we're talking about ....
its NRL revenue ... as they'll be the ones who divvy their revenue out to the clubs to sure them up

NRL clubs operate off far smaller budgets then AFLclubs
the gap between a loss n profit is there for........ far smaller & with the games extra 100 million a year in income .. of which a fair whack will go to the clubs

the exercise in getting them .. all of them .. in the black
will be relatively ... easy.

So why didn't the last payout solve the problem ?

it wasn't enough ... we were about 50% under valued
if we'd got that like we should have ( our trickey relationship with news ltd cost us )
there wouldn't be an NRL club in the red today

we no longer have to worry about news
what a great future we can look forward to ................... =D> =D> =D>

the NRL .. unstoppable

If the majority of the money to fund NRL clubs comes from the TV rihts there will be little left for expansion. The NRL needs fans going to games and people taking up memberships. Shame it only appeals to red neck bogans.

The NRL doesn't fund expansion. Bids are privately set up and funded.

expansion wont work unless the ground work is done at grass roots level. This is why the Storm are struggling to grow. The participation rates of grass roots level RL in Victoria is dismal. The number of Victorians playing elite RL must be almost zero. Same would apply to SA and WA and TAS. Are private consortiums going to fund grass roots RL?

The ARL funds grass roots football not the clubs.
