The thing I don't get is the QLD governments is in a lot of debt while AFL keeps boasting how much money it is making.

Where is the logic in paying for a stadium that AFL can afford anyway? It is AFLs way of rebuilding the failing lions brand and getting someone else to pay for it.

Well if the AFL can sell the idea to any government they would be crazy not to.

You are just too thick to understand .
NRL teams in QLD share their ground with 2 other sports .
RL is the number 1 game in Qld .
Just like the AFL has had millions of not billions poured into stadia in their strongholds .

There is no need for AFL to have a new stadium in a state where it is no where near the most popular sport .

Tell me why it's kokfor the govt to spend untold $$$ on AFL stadia .
But you go spazza when Rl gets $$$$ ......& then shares the grounds with other sports .
Bahahaha
Yes go on how the AFL has had billions poored in to them for stadiums?

Despite the nrlol having the same treatment for their stadiums as well as own club grounds
In their heartland ..yes Money is spent on club grounds etc .
Just like in AFL states .
What don't you understand what is wrong where a sport is nowhere near the most popular ..already has grounds & is still wanting more .

& you never answered my question an
Bout wanting another stadium in Melb .
Why is that .
You'd look like the fucking hypocrite you are .
No, the traditional clubs grounds are not used today because of this they were all paid for by the clubs, unlike your nrlol clubs who have had government funding for years,

Etihad is private money and so is the mcg, and there are strict contracts in place for the AFL to play so many games there to pay for the cost of the venue, unlike the nrlol and their grounds

You have nothing but jealous mental rants as usual

So it's perfectly acceptable for the qld government to hand out even more money for he wealthy news corp owned broncos for a training venue and several hundreds of million for a stadium in Townsville to a team on average can only half fill their current stadium

It is impossible to talk sense to a pot plant .

The QLD GOVT spend money on RL in QLD because it is the No1 sport .
Just like the Vic GOVt do in VICdERPIA .

What don't you understand about that .
Asking them to spend more money on a new stadium for a secondary or even third choice sports is ludicrous .
Especially when there's two stadiums already in SEQ that the QLD GOVTbsunk large $$$ into .
Use them
&

How fucking old is the Townsville RL Ground DINGBAT?
Far older than the redeveloped Gabba
Far older than Metricon ......the newest stadium in QLd
Yet now they want another new one .

& why won't you answer this question .
If the NRL wanted the vic govt to build a smaller boutique stadium ..in Melb .
Then you would have no problem with that .
Lol

That's what the cowboys play at, no cover for the fans no cooperate boxes no nothing yet dingbat says they don't deserve any upgrades but the womens AFL do.

Shock horror.

I was thinking about the offer made the other day about helping out around here and I'll just let one person know something, if I do take up the offer, you are guaranteed to be the first, and only FW looked seriously at, you don't even try to debate and as far as I can see, you are a freaking CANCER on this forum.

If the govt was stupid enough to put money into a stadium for AFL before fixing up Townsville there would be a riot .

It hasn't got off the ground yet .
So the AFL can fuck off until the major sport in this state has its stadia up to scratch

Lol apparently a ground that they were gunna lock people out after 3 k
Got 5.5 k
Lol

On TV parts of the crowd around the Fence had spaces .
Not 2 deep not 3 deep
But just single people with plenty of space behind them that you could have drove a mack truck through .
Lol x10000
Suddenly after raising the idea of needing a bigger stadium built they get a crowd nearly twice the so called capacity .
Yet on TV looked half of the capacity .
Well played AFL

Bigger I missed it lol. Will have to watch the replay. Did watch the gws freo game though and got right into it. Decent crowd there for sure. 5 and a half at the other game. Surprised as I didn't go as it was being discussed on the radio as being a lockout and asking people to register. The fact they are even discussing the game up here is amazing. Even on the nightly news in the sports. Seems to be making the news up your way too 💩 crapper given all the reading you have done. So was it a good match crapper?

Rectangular venues are much more financially viable in Qld as it is the field shape the top 3 football codes use there. Are used by Soccer, Union and League. This new stadium will likely be used only by AFL.

So really no point.

I think AFL would be way above union in the south east at least. Also cricket can use it in summer.

And if the AFL are doing a deal to bank roll much of what is, a fairly small ground holding 10000 and are just exploring if there can be some government assistance, not sure why it is an issue. Reality is it probably means adding a 5000 seat grand stand and the rest standing or a hill type thing. At the end of the day if the AFL want it badly they will get it. All they will need is the red tape pushed through by government. And if the AFL pay for it then why would people care.

I do agree that a small 10000 stadium for league union and soccer could also be good. The state comp for rl could play there and fill it for a grand final etc. am sure soccer and union too would be better off for some games in such a ground.
